Monday First Things: Teaching of the Holy Fathers
31/8/20, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

The proud sin greatly who, after studying secular literature and having turned to the Holy Scriptures, consider all that they say to be the Law of God, and do not endeavour to come to know the thoughts of the prophets and apostles, but seek out from the scriptures inapropriate texts for their own thoughts, as if this were a good work, and not the most defiled kind of study: to distort the thoughts of Scripture and submit them to their own intentions, in spite of obvious contradictions It is not proper to children and charlatans to try to teach that which they do not know.

Parish Prayer Kit Now Available!

Posted by Fr. Gregory

Everyone should own a prayer book. We strongly recommend the Jordanville edition, and we have this in our parish kiosk in English and Russian. However, sometimes we don't have a prayer book handy, or sometimes we need practical tools in our "prayer kit".

Weekly Educational Offering - Prepare for the Coming Sunday!
26/8/20, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

We present here a short educational offering for both children and adults on the upcoming Sunday's principle Gospel reading so that all can better prepare for the Divine Services. Parents are asked to review the childrens portion with their children. It is very important for us to attend the Divine Services on Sundays and whenever else we are able, but in addition it is our spiritual responsibility to educate ourselves and our families in the faith. It is our hope that this mid-week offering will be an aid in this regard. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions or suggestions.

For Adults: from the writings of Blessed Theophylact

For Children: from the Antiochian Archdiocese (various age groups)

Moving Indoors for Sunday Mornings
25/8/20, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

At the Parish Council meeting on Sunday, August 23, 2020 the topic of how best to move back into the parish church for Sunday morning Liturgies was discussed. First if you have ideas about this please share them with Fr. Gregory or any of the Parish Council members. YOU CAN FIND THE LIST OF PARISH COUNCIL MEMBERS HERE.

Second we are putting together a plan. We will communicate that plan early and clearly, and we will stick to that plan consistently throughout the cold winter months. No one knows how long the pandemic will last, and no one can predict how the disease curve will progress, so we have to plan for the worst and hope for the best. We ask your patience during this time, and we assure you that there will be ample opportunity for everyone to participate in the Divine Services weekly because we will serve as many Divine Liturgies as is possible, given our human resources (clergy, choir, readers, etc.), every week.

Our parishioners have been very understanding and supportive during this pandemic and we are VERY thankful for this. We ask you to continue that understanding and support as we look forward to our next logistical challenge.

Please provide feedback so that we can continually improve the services by emailing info@stvladimiraami.org or by visiting THIS FEEDBACK FORM.

Emergency Cards Available
21/8/20, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

The diocese has provided each of our parishes with Emergency Cards. These cards are to be filled out and put in your wallet so that if it were ever to happen that you were in an accident or otherwise needed spiritual support, but could not speak for yourself, the authorities would find the card in your wallet and call Fr. Gregory to come to you. We hope none of our parishioners ever needs to use one of these cards, but it is a good idea to have one just in case. Please see Fr. Gregory if you have questions. Emergency cards can be found near the front doors - near the pamphlets that are available to all for free.

At the Parish Council meeting on March 11, 2017 a Stewardship Education Team was appointed by the Parish Council consisting of Fr. Gregory, Jack (Alexey) Mitchel, and Leta (Ksenia) Nikulshina. The charge of this team is to provide our parish family with educational information about stewardship. In this regard, we intend to send out an email and post on our parish web site a quarterly communication in preparation for a quarterly parish finance report out.

Please find the quarterly communication at the link below. Please note that we will have a question and answer period and report out on Sunday, August 30, 2020 at the outdoor parish meal following the Divine Liturgy that day. Please feel free to contact any of us, or any of the Parish Council members, with questions at any time. Or, if you prefer, use the second link below to ask a question or make a comment anonymously.

We thank you sincerely for your generous support of our parish! And we look forward to hearing from you at your convenience regarding this information.
