St. Michael & All Angels Commemorated Friday & Saturday
18/11/20, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

Please join us Friday at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. for the annual commemoration of St. Michael and all the Angels. We have quite a few parishioners named after the angels (our Michaels, Raphaels, Gabriels, etc.), and our Mother Raphaela in Australia celebrates on this day too. We congratulated all on their name's day!

All are welcome! The services will be inside the church, so we ask that you sign up. This allows us to understand the number of people that will attend since we have limited, physically distanced spaces inside the temple:

Construction begins THIS WEEK! Can you spare $10?

Construction on our parish day school, the Ann Arbor Orthodox Christian Academy, begins this week. The beginning of construction will depend on the weather, so certainly by Thursday there will be trucks and bulldozers all over the property. Rest assured that we will bombard you with pictures as construction ramps up! The Lord has blessed us to get this far, and we are thankful all the support we have received so far! But now it is time to strengthen our foundation of support. You can’t build a building without a strong foundation. That is true physically (we are using cement for the school, so that part is done), and that is true financially. As of 11/15/20 we have $515 in monthly recurring donations supporting the school. This is great! This is the BEGINNING of a good foundation – thank God! But our monthly mortgage payment on the school will be about $1500 and we need to get our recurring donations to this point ASAP. That’s 100 more people at $10 per month. If every adult member of our parish (about 150 folks) can donate $10 per month we are more than done! This is a parish-wide project – let’s all join in and make it happen as a parish family! The school is the jumping off point to the new church – help us build this step to get quickly to the next!

Every member of our Board of Directors has established a monthly recurring donation, as have many of our parishioners and some folks from outside the parish. JOIN US! $10/month. $120/year. Just about $2/week. Visit this link to establish your monthly donation and assure that Orthodox education in Michigan has a firm foundation:

Most of us use amazon.com on some sort of regular basis. Why not do that shopping on Amazon Smile (smile.amazon.com) and choose “St Vladimir Russian Orthodox Church” (Location: Dexter, MI) as your charity? This is EXACTLY the same web site as amazon.com, but a portion of every dollar you spend goes to support St. Vladimir’s. It is EASY, QUICK, and PAINLESS. Click HERE to start using Amazon Smile and Support St. Vladimir’s – Thank You!

We welcome your feedback. We know that we have great ideas in our parish – but we fear that many of those ideas are still in our parishioners’ heads. That is – that they have not shared them with us. Please share! Reach out to Fr. Gregory, Jack Mitchell, or use our feedback form:

Winter Worship Space – Last Week of Fund Raising
12/11/20, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

Everyone likes to see the combination of words that amount to something like “...end of fund raising.” That includes the Parish Council. We would prefer not to ask you to donate – we’d like to see it just happen without any effort on our side. But since none of us, as far as we know, can read minds, we need to tell you what is happening in the parish so you can take appropriate measures based on your abilities and your reality. We start construction of the Ann Arbor Orthodox Classical Academy on November 16, so November 15 be our last day of fund raising for this effort. Let us be thankful for those who make it possible to raise over $5,000 so far! And let us strive to get to that goal of $15,000!

If you haven’t had a chance yet to make a donation for the winter worship space please take a moment and visit our giving page for that effort:
