Nursery is for Nursing Ė Parents Please Note
16/9/22, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

Parents Ė it is your responsibility to care for your children during the Divine Services. Too often there are children in the Nursery and this makes it difficult for nursing mothers to use the Nursery. It should not be the responsibility of nursing mothers to chase the children out of the Nursery. This sends EXACTLY THE WRONG MESSAGE to young families Ė that they are not welcome at STV. There are two types of children that should be in the nursery: those who are nursing and those who need their diaper changed. It is understood that not every child can stand through the entire service. If a young child needs to step out of the service that is fine of course, but you as a parent must accompany your child in such a situation. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions.

New Subscription Service at STV Started 9/14/22
15/9/22, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

The single best way for us to pray for our friends and loved ones is to arrange for them to be remembered at the Divine Liturgy. We serve approximately 130 Divine Liturgies per year, so your friends or loved ones will be prayed for approximately ever three days as a rule at St. Vladimir's.

Beginning on September 1/14, 2022 we will offer a subscription service for the commemoration of your friends and loved ones at our parish. The details can be found at the link below. Please contact Fr. Gregory or Deacon Dmitri Mihaliov with questions or to arrange the commemoration of your friends and loved ones using this analog technology (names written in commemoration books or pieces of paper):

Cross Procession for Peace is THIS SATURDAY
15/9/22, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

On the Saturday that we had originally scheduled our Russian Festival for this year (Saturday, September 17) we will hold a Cross Procession and prayers for peace in Ukraine. There are two options to participate in this action for peace:

1. Join our Cross Procession that day. All are welcome, but there will be no politics AT ALL. We will walk and pray together under the protection of the Cross according to the established Orthodox tradition, asking the Lord to grant peace in Ukraine. The procession begins at 10:00 a.m. More information and a sign up can be found at the link below. Please sign up if you intend to participate. This helps us plan first aid, water, and other necessary material things to make sure all can participate safely:

2. Join us for our special prayer service (moleben) for peace after the Cross Procession at St. Vladimirís. All are welcome, but there will be no politics AT ALL. We are interested only in the Lordís help Ė because clearly only the Lord can stop the war, and human wisdom has done nothing positive in this regard thus far. The special prayer for peace will take place at St. Vladimirís about 1:00 p.m. That is, when the Cross Procession ends. Doors will be open beginning at 12:00 p.m. for those who would like to pray quietly in the church and wait for the Cross Procession to return.

Even if you cannot join us, please read this prayer for peace in Ukraine and America at 1:00 p.m. that day Ė this is about the time we will be reading this same prayer at St. Vladimirís:

Make Support of STV a Spiritual Question

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
(Matthew 6:21)

St. Vladimirís Orthodox Church has always, throughout its 40+ year history, been well supported by its parishioners. This is something that we can be proud of and thankful for. However, this is also something that we often do not think very much about. We know that when we are in church on Sunday there will be some sort of collection, but we donít usually think very much about this, either before the collection or afterwards. We see this as just a part of going to church. However, stewardship, how we use what God has given us, is something that we should consider and something that we should plan.

Weekly Educational Offering - Prepare for the Coming Sunday!
14/9/22, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

We present here a short educational offering for both children and adults on the upcoming Sunday's principle Gospel reading so that all can better prepare for the Divine Services. Parents are asked to review the childrenís portion with their children. It is very important for us to attend the Divine Services on Sundays and whenever else we are able, but in addition it is our spiritual responsibility to educate ourselves and our families in the faith. It is our hope that this mid-week offering will be an aid in this regard. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions or suggestions.

How to Support St. Vladimir's
13/9/22, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

People often ask us how they can make donations to St. Vladimirís other than by making a donation at church. We work continuously to make this as easy for our parish family and friends as we can and we appreciate your feedback in this regard. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT OF YOUR PARISH!

During this time of economic difficulty we need your support more than ever! We understand that your bills are higher now than in the past. But so are the parish bills. AND Ė we are being asked to help those who cannot pay their own bills because of the economic situation. Please establish a regular tithe in support of the parish which God has entrusted to us! You can do that, and investigate other means of supporting St. Vladimir's at this page:

Members Ė Pick Your Duty
13/9/22, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

It is understood and expected that each member of our parish would have at least one duty that they participate in IN ADDITION to attending the Divine Services. This ranges from baking prosphora, to picking sticks in the cemetery, to shoveling snow, and more! If we all do our little part we will equitably care for the parish the Lord has entrusted to us, and we will not kill off those who do these things if no one else does. It is wise for us to preserve the leadership of our parish, but it is also moral for each parish member to do their part. So please pitch in, and if you have not chosen your duty yet please contact our parish Secretary, Marina Edwards. If she doesnít hear from you she will reach out to you soon. You can email her at info@stvladimiraami.org or see her in church. Thank you diligently following through on this program. More involvement in the parish promotes persistence in being part of the parish family Ė and it keeps a few people from doing everything. With Godís help we will make our metaphor of ďfamilyĒ even more real in our parish by working together for Godís glory in this way!

Monday First Things - Teachings of the Holy Fathers

In the whole range of evil thoughts, none is richer in resources than self-esteem; for it is to be found almost everywhere, and like some cunning traitor in a city it opens the gates to all the demons.
