Quarter 1, 2022 Stewardship Education Communication
7/7/22, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

At the Parish Council meeting on March 11, 2017 a Stewardship Education Team was appointed by the Parish Council consisting of Fr. Gregory, Jack (Alexey) Mitchel, and Leta (Ksenia) Nikulshina. The charge of this team is to provide our parish family with educational information about stewardship. In this regard, we intend to send out an email and post on our parish web site a quarterly communication in preparation for a quarterly parish finance report out.

Please find the quarterly communication at the link below. Please note that we will have a question and answer period and report out during the parish meal on Sunday, July 17, 2022 to allow for questions in an open forum. However, please feel free to contact any of us, or any of the Parish Council members, with questions at any time. Or, if you prefer, use the second link below to ask a question or make a comment anonymously.

We thank you sincerely for your generous support of our parish! And we look forward to hearing from you at your convenience regarding this information.

MATCHING GRANT! Boards and Drywall for the New School Building
6/7/22, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

We have a matching grant! For every board or sheet of drywall you buy between now and July 28 an anonymous donor will buy another! That is, your donation is doubled! If you give $5 – our school gets $10. What does that mean? OUR GOAL IS TO BUY EVERYTHING NEEDED INTERIOR CONSTRCTION BY OUR PARISH FEAST DAY: JULY 28! We can do this if we do it together – and with generous help from our anonymous donor.

To complete the inside of our school we need 650 2x4 boards and we need 425 sheets of drywall.

As of today we have sold 155 2x4s. Therefore we have 495 boards to go!

As of today we have sold 171 sheets of drywall. Therefore we have 254 sheets to go!

We ask only that you note what you are buying so we can keep track of how many boards are still left to go! You could also use Zelle if that is easier, with “treasurer@stvladimiraami.org” as the entity to transfer to. Or Venmo “@stvladimirchurch”. LET’S FINISH BUILDING OUR SCHOOL!

Weekly Educational Offering - Prepare for the Coming Sunday!
6/7/22, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

We present here a short educational offering for both children and adults on the upcoming Sunday's principle Gospel reading so that all can better prepare for the Divine Services. Parents are asked to review the children’s portion with their children. It is very important for us to attend the Divine Services on Sundays and whenever else we are able, but in addition it is our spiritual responsibility to educate ourselves and our families in the faith. It is our hope that this mid-week offering will be an aid in this regard. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions or suggestions.

Deacon Ordination August 27 - Instructions for Parishioners
5/7/22, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

God willing, Subdeacon Dmitri Mihaliov will be ordained a deacon on Saturday, August 27 for service at our St. Vladimir parish. Ordination is the sacrament of the Holy Church that we probably least often participate in, but it is important that we all participate in this ordination appropriately. We ask all our parishioners to review the ordination instructions here and to address questions to Fr. Gregory or Fr. Colin. Please remember - the Divine Liturgy begins at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 27.

Monday First Things - Teachings of the Holy Fathers
4/7/22, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

Do not grieve that it has become difficult to live, do not despair, do not be troubled! It is impossible for a young person to cross the stormy sea of the passions without disturbances and the hourly fear of threatening destruction. But this is all temporary: the storm will subside, the glorious sun will begin to shine, and we will reach the cozy, quiet, and always green island. You must be patient!

Scripture Reading for the Coming Week
3/7/22, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

"This is the cause of all evils: the ignorance of the Scriptures. We go into battle without arms, and how ought we to come off safe?" -St. John Chrysostom, Homily IX on Colossians.

In order to help increase the general knowledge of scripture in our parish family we present here for your edification the scripture readings for the coming week. At least one Gospel Reading and one Epistle reading are assigned for each day of the year (although during Great Lent the readings are from the Old Testament). Hearing or reading only those readings appointed for Sunday merely scratches the surface of the great spiritual wealth that the scriptures provide us. Some of the readings are easily understandable – others are less so. As Orthodox Christians we do not make private interpretation of scripture, but rather consult the fathers of the Church for their explanations to aid us in our understanding. Those wishing to have access to such explanations are asked to contact Fr. Gregory or inquire in the kiosk for further reading in this regard. Bibles may also be acquired in the kiosk.

Monday: Romans 9:18-33 & Matthew 11:2-15
Tuesday: Romans 10:11-11:2 & Matthew 11:16-20
Wednesday: Romans 11:2-12 & Matthew 11:20-26
Thursday: Romans 11:13-24 & Matthew 11:27-30
Friday: Romans 11:25-36 & Matthew 12:1-8
Saturday: Romans 6:11-17 & Matthew 8:14-23
