Blessing Pascha Baskets
13/4/23, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

Paschal baskets will be blessed at St. Vladimir's following the Divine Liturgy on Holy Saturday (April 15) as well as every subsequent Divine Service of Bright Week. It is most traditional for baskets to be blessed after the Divine Liturgy on Pascha itself, but we realize that this does not work for everyone's schedule, and thus we offer an early opportunity (after the Holy Saturday Divine Liturgy) and later opportunities (after every Divine Service of Bright Week). If your basket is blessed on Holy Saturday after Liturgy you agree that you will not partake of the non-Lenten foods until after the Divine Liturgy on Pascha night, for the fast does not end at midnight, but after the Divine Liturgy on the feast!

Weekly Educational Offering - Prepare for the Coming Sunday!
12/4/23, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

We present here a short educational offering for both children and adults on the upcoming Sunday's principle Gospel reading so that all can better prepare for the Divine Services. Parents are asked to review the children’s portion with their children. It is very important for us to attend the Divine Services on Sundays and whenever else we are able, but in addition it is our spiritual responsibility to educate ourselves and our families in the faith. It is our hope that this mid-week offering will be an aid in this regard. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions or suggestions.

Confess Early – but not Often – for Pascha
11/4/23, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

Those who confess beginning on Friday, April 7 and any time during Holy Week may partake of Divine Communion during any of the Holy Week & Bright Week Divine Liturgies if they have read their pre-Communion rule. Please plan to come to Confession early in Holy Week so that your Confession will not be rushed due to long lines of others waiting for Confession. ONCE YOU HAVE CONFESSED YOU SHOULD NOT CONFESS AGAIN UNLESS YOU FALL INTO A VERY, VERY, VERY SERIOUS SIN. In other words, if you come for a second confession during this time please have a police report to present to the priest explaining your sin. There are MANY who need to confess this week - literally hundreds. Please be merciful to your priests and only confess one time unless there is an extraordinarily serious need to confess a second time.

“Know that grace always precedes temptations as a warning to prepare. As soon as you see grace, tighten your belt and say, “The declaration of war has come! Watch out, you man of clay, where the malicious one will wage the battle.””
