Please keep our parishioners, friends, and those who have asked us in our unworthiness to pray for them in your prayers this coming week. Our parish prayer list can be found here:

PARISH PRAYER LIST

PLEASE NOTE! We have removed those from the list that we believe no longer should be present there. If you requested that someone be included in this list please review it carefully to make sure we have not removed someone erroneously. If we have, please contact Fr. Gregory to have your loved one again added to the list.

Nativity Lent Begins November 28
21/11/20, 12:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

Please note that the yearly Lenten period in preparation for our Lords Nativity begins on November 28. From this day until January 7 we do not partake of meat or dairy products. On many days during this lent fish is allowed. Please consult the parish schedule of services for details in this regard. Have questions about fasting? Never tried to follow the fast before? Please talk to Fr. Gregory for answers! We abstain from meats that we might abstain from the passions... writes St. John Chrysostom. Let us indeed use the fast for what it is a tool to aid us in our spiritual struggle for salvation!

Parish Prayer Kit Now Available!
20/11/20, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

Everyone should own a prayer book. We strongly recommend the Jordanville edition, and we have this in our parish kiosk in English and Russian. However, sometimes we don't have a prayer book handy, or sometimes we need practical tools in our "prayer kit".

Pandemic Spevka for All!
19/11/20, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

There are several prayers that we sing together at St. Vladimir's. We want you to know this so that you can practice. :) And the pandemic is the perfect time to practice MORE! That way we will sing these with zeal - with power! WE SHOULD BE LIFTING THE ROOF WHEN WE SING THESE - THEY SHOULD BE SUNG VERY STRONGLY - ESPECIALLY THE CREED AND "HAVING BEHELD THE RESURRECTION..."

Saturday Vigil (and matins during Pentecost) - "Having Beheld the Resurrection of Christ":

St. Michael & All Angels Commemorated Friday & Saturday
18/11/20, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

Please join us Friday at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. for the annual commemoration of St. Michael and all the Angels. We have quite a few parishioners named after the angels (our Michaels, Raphaels, Gabriels, etc.), and our Mother Raphaela in Australia celebrates on this day too. We congratulated all on their name's day!

All are welcome! The services will be inside the church, so we ask that you sign up. This allows us to understand the number of people that will attend since we have limited, physically distanced spaces inside the temple:

Construction begins THIS WEEK! Can you spare $10?
16/11/20, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

Construction on our parish day school, the Ann Arbor Orthodox Christian Academy, begins this week. The beginning of construction will depend on the weather, so certainly by Thursday there will be trucks and bulldozers all over the property. Rest assured that we will bombard you with pictures as construction ramps up! The Lord has blessed us to get this far, and we are thankful all the support we have received so far! But now it is time to strengthen our foundation of support. You cant build a building without a strong foundation. That is true physically (we are using cement for the school, so that part is done), and that is true financially. As of 11/15/20 we have $515 in monthly recurring donations supporting the school. This is great! This is the BEGINNING of a good foundation thank God! But our monthly mortgage payment on the school will be about $1500 and we need to get our recurring donations to this point ASAP. Thats 100 more people at $10 per month. If every adult member of our parish (about 150 folks) can donate $10 per month we are more than done! This is a parish-wide project lets all join in and make it happen as a parish family! The school is the jumping off point to the new church help us build this step to get quickly to the next!

Every member of our Board of Directors has established a monthly recurring donation, as have many of our parishioners and some folks from outside the parish. JOIN US! $10/month. $120/year. Just about $2/week. Visit this link to establish your monthly donation and assure that Orthodox education in Michigan has a firm foundation:
