Demetrius Saturday is this Saturday
4/11/20, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

Each year around the feast of St. Demetrius of Thessalonica (whose relics reside in our parish foundation) there is a special Church-wide commemoration of the departed: Demetrius Saturday. This year Demetrius Saturday falls on November 7. At St. Vladimir's we will hold Vespers & Matins on Friday, November 6 at 6:00 p.m. and Divine Liturgy and a Pannykhida on Saturday, November 7 at 8:00 a.m. Please email names for the memorial services to info@stvladimiraami.org. Differentiate between Orthodox and non-Orthodox departed. We pray for both, but we pray differently and we want to do this appropriately Ė according to the Churchís established practices.

Election Day is Tomorrow - Let us Choose as Christians
2/11/20, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

The last two weeks Archbishop Peter has asked us to conduct a special moleben at the end of the Sunday Divine Liturgy asking the Lordís help for our country as we approach election day. Sadly there is much dissension in our country now. It seems to me (and perhaps I am just being romantic, but I don't think so) that Election Day used to be a day when we would celebrate our democracy Ė our ability to choose our own leaders freely. It seems that this is no longer the case Ė at least not this year. We still have the ability to choose freely, but the overall tenor of the society is rather negative - not celebratory...
