Happy Thanksgiving!

We congratulate all our St. Vladimir's family and friends with the Thanksgiving Holiday. This civil holiday - very Christian in its character - reminds us of our need to thank God for His many blessings upon us. May we humbly suggest, before you sit down to your family dinner today, that you take a few minutes either privately or as a family to thank God for the many blessings He has given you this past year, and for the many blessings He has given to our parish family. We are privileged to call you all brothers and sisters in Christ, and we thank God for you and for our parish family. Happy Thanksgiving!

Congratulations to all with the beginning of the Nativity Lent!
27/11/19, 11:59 PM

We congratulate all our parish family with the beginning of the yearly Lenten period preceding the feast of our Lords Nativity! This Lenten period begins November 28 each year and runs until January 7 the feast of our Lords Nativity. This Lenten period is much less stringent than Great Lent. During this fast, as usual, we abstain from meat and dairy products. But fish is allowed on many days. Please consult our parish schedule (linked below) for more details on the culinary aspects of fasting. Of course, the culinary fast is a tool to aid us spiritually to prepare for our Lords Nativity it is not an end unto itself. If you have not fasted in the past please consult Fr. Gregory or Fr. Moses for practical advice on how to be successful in fasting. Fasting a very important way that we place ourselves in obedience to the Church, the Ark of our salvation, and extraordinarily helpful in our spiritual struggle to draw nearer to our Lord at this special time of year.

We only have ONE CHANCE TO MAKE A FIRST IMPRESSION - and this is what our Greeter Ministry is all about: welcoming new people to St. Vladimir's, making them feel at home, being a resource for their questions, helping resolve any issues they have while at St. Vladimir's, and providing them a resource for more information in the future.

To avoid sin, one must know what the will of God is. This is what we learn from our conscience, and this is what we learn from the Holy Scriptures.

Lampadas above the Royal Doors - Please be Attentive

Posted by Fr. Gregory

We ask all to be attentive to the system we have devised to help folks know when they can and when they cannot move about during the Divine Services to light candles, etc. Even as we ask all to be attentive we also ask all to be loving, and if someone clearly is not aware that we have reached a time in the Divine Service when we should be still that we share that information with them lovingly and in a way that will not cause embarrassment. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions or concerns.

You Are a Missionary

The Lord has entrusted us with the Pearl of Great Price the Orthodox Faith. Are we hiding this? Are we keeping it for ourselves? Or are we following the example of the Apostles and working actively to spread our saving faith? If you had the cure for a bodily disease like cancer you would never keep that to yourself it is obvious that this would be unethical and sinful. But we have the cure for DEATH! And sadly we mostly keep it to ourselves. And that is even more unethical and sinful that hiding the cure for any bodily disease. Share your faith. Invite a friend, loved one, or neighbor to the Divine Services this coming weekend and assure them that you will be there to welcome them to St. Vladimirs. If we would all do this if we would make just a minimal effort to invite others we would need to seriously rethink the size of the new church we plan to build because it would be way TOO SMALL. Lets do that. Lets make all our plans useless because there are just too many people in our parish family! Success only comes before work in the dictionary let us get to work spreading our Orthodox Faith by simply inviting others to join us at St. Vladimirs!

We serve approximately 130 Divine Liturgies per year, so your friends or loved ones will be prayed for approximately ever three days as a rule at St. Vladimir's. Please note that we do not allow photography during hierarchal divine services at St. Vladimir's. There were will be several trained photographers taking pictures according to the guidelines that Archbishop Peter has provided. We ask others to refrain from taking pictures and rather enjoy the pictures our official photographers will take and post on our Facebook page and our parish photo album. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this regard. Please see Fr. Gregory if you have questions or concerns.
