We were created to live on earth unlike animals who die and disappear with time, but with the high purpose to live with God not for a hundred years or so but for eternity.

Second Pascha of Former Ann Arbor Parish is Sunday, November 3
25/10/19, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

The parish that existed in Ann Arbor in the 1950s and was subsequently dissolved when no priest could be sent after the death of Fr. Peter DeMett was named in honor of the Venerable Hilarion the Great. The feast of St. Hilarion this year falls on Sunday, November 3. We invite all St. Vladimirs parishioners to be present this day for the Divine Services in honor of St. Hilarion, to prepare themselves to partake of the Holy Mysteries, and to fervently entreat the prayers of the favorite of God, St. Hilarion the Great, that the work begun by those first Russian Orthodox Christians in Ann Arbor will be continued worthily by us sinners, the parish family of St. Vladimir Church. Please plan to join us!

Posted by Fr. Gregory

At the Parish Council meeting on March 11, 2017 a Stewardship Education Team was appointed by the Parish Council consisting of Fr. Gregory, Jack (Alexey) Mitchel, and Leta (Ksenia) Nikulshina. The charge of this team is to provide our parish family with educational information about stewardship. In this regard, we intend to send out an email and post on our parish web site a quarterly communication in preparation for a quarterly parish finance report out.

Please find the quarterly communication at the link below. Please note that we will have a question and answer period and report out during the parish meal on Sunday, October 27, 2019 to allow for questions in an open forum. However, please feel free to contact any of us, or any of the Parish Council members, with questions at any time. Or, if you prefer, use the second link below to ask a question or make a comment anonymously.

We thank you sincerely for your generous support of our parish! And we look forward to hearing from you at your convenience regarding this information.

Most of us attend Liturgy regularly on Sundays, but rarely other days. Still, it is good to know when we make prostrations on weekdays, and this is why we have put together this handout. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions. See the handout in PDF format here:

Liturgy on your Name's Day?
22/10/19, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

It is a true blessing to have the opportunity to partake of Holy Communion on one's patron saint's day. Fr. Gregory is willing to consider serving Liturgy on your name's day yes YOURS. If you would be willing to attend the Divine Services on the eve of the feast and on the feast itself, and to partake of Holy Communion on that day please contact him. This is not a guarantee that we can do this but we can certainly try. But please don't tell him a week before. Something like six months before would be better three months before as a minimum. See Fr. Gregory with questions or email ogrisha@stvladimiraami.org!

Monday First Things - Teachings of the Holy Fathers
21/10/19, 06:00 AM

As the book of Genesis states, Adam lived in the most beautiful garden (named Eden or Paradise), planted by God, and there he enjoyed all the blessings of life. He knew no sickness nor suffering. He feared nothing, and all beasts submitted to him as their master. Adam suffered neither cold nor heat. Although he toiled by caring for the garden of Eden, he did so with pleasure. His soul was filled with awareness of the Divine presence, and he loved his Creator with his whole heart. Adam was always calm and happy and knew no unpleasantness, sorrow, or concern. All his desires were pure, righteous, and orderly; his memory, intellect, and all other faculties were in harmony and were constantly being perfected. Being pure and innocent, he was always with God and conversed with Him as with his Father, and in return God loved him as His own beloved son. In brief, Adam was in Paradise, and Paradise was within him.
