Festival Preparation - YOUR HELP NEEDED!
10/9/19, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

There are lots of things to do before the festival begins on Saturday, September 14! If you like to cook: our Head Sister Leta Nikulshina will be at church every day from September 10-13 preparing food and she needs your help! Reach out to Leta at 734-272-3826 or letanikulshina@gmail.com. Not someone who loves to cook? The head of our Festival Committee, Don Skalitzky, will be at church every day from September 10-13 getting the grounds and everything else ready and he needs your help! Reach out to Don at 734-717-1662 or sdsdv10@comcast.net.

We dont expect anyone to be there every day, but we really need you to join us at least one or two days this week! We cant do it without it! Please reach out to Leta or Don right now so they will know when you will help that allows them to use your skills most efficiently in concert with everyone else who will be there to help. THANK YOU!

Please join us in participating in our most important outreach to our local community of the year the Ann Arbor Russian Festival! WE NEED YOU! And when we prepare for and participate in such a shared effort we grow closer as a parish family. We increase trust, friendship, and love in our midst! We help others by introducing them to our Orthodox Faith, and by raising money for charity. And we help ourselves by strengthening our parish family bonds and raising money for our parish. What a great thing! Sign up today to volunteer for the festival:

Monday First Things - Teachings of the Holy Fathers

Speak well of those who speak evil of you.

Pay good for evil.

Pray for those who cause you various offenses, wrongs, temptations, persecutions.

Whatever you do, on no account condemn anyone; do not even try to judge whether a person is good or bad, but keep your eyes on that one evil person for whom you must give an account before Godyourself.

Divine Liturgy Explained
7/9/19, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

The Divine Service we attend most often is the Divine Liturgy. We know it, but do we know it? The better we understand the Divine Liturgy the more we will engage in this "work of the people", and the more we will get from it. Or perhaps better put, the more it will transform us. And since we are seeking to be transformed into the children of God, should we not take the time to delve more deeply into the Divine Liturgy - the most theologically significant Divine Service? That is a purely rhetorical question of course, since the answer must be "yes"! The article below is a classic of the 20th century, written by one of the most influential theologians of that time. That time was not that long ago - and this article is well, well worth the read!

Communing the Sick, Blessing Homes, Spiritual Support - Please Reach Out!
6/9/19, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

Fr. Gregory is available to bring Holy Communion to the sick, bless homes and apartments (or dorm rooms), or to provide spiritual support to any and all of our parish family whenever there is a need. Please do not hesitate to contact him! Too often those in need suffer in silence because they do not want to bother the priest. Fr. Gregory is here to serve our parish family just as Christ came to minister so too is this the calling of the parish priest. You can reach Fr. Gregory by phone or SMS at 734-649-5746 or via email at ogrisha@stvladimiraami.org. Rest assured he looks forward to hearing from you any time whether you have a specific need or even if you just need to talk please contact him!

Lampadas above the Royal Doors - Please be Attentive
5/9/19, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

We ask all to be attentive to the system we have devised to help folks know when they can and when they cannot move about during the Divine Services to light candles, etc. Even as we ask all to be attentive we also ask all to be loving, and if someone clearly is not aware that we have reached a time in the Divine Service when we should be still that we share that information with them lovingly and in a way that will not cause embarrassment. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions or concerns.
