Monday First Things - Teachings of the Holy Fathers

Posted by Fr. Gregory

“If a man is doing something according to God, trial of some kind will come upon him, for trial and temptation either precede or follow all good. Neither is it sure the thing is happening according to God, unless it is proved so by trials and temptations.”

Church Marriage - For All of Us
28/8/21, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

There are some of us in our St. Vladimir family who have not yet gotten married in the Church. We should address this issue, not with acrimony, but from an educational point of view. It is my hope that if we do this it will become clear that marriage in the Church is not some sort of optional thing, but is absolutely crucial if we hope to be successful as a couple. And we’ll talk about what “successful” means too. It might be something different than what you are thinking as you begin this note…

At the Parish Council meeting on March 11, 2017 a Stewardship Education Team was appointed by the Parish Council consisting of Fr. Gregory, Jack (Alexey) Mitchel, and Leta (Ksenia) Nikulshina. The charge of this team is to provide our parish family with educational information about stewardship. In this regard, we intend to send out an email and post on our parish web site a quarterly communication in preparation for a quarterly parish finance report out.

Please find the quarterly communication at the link below. Please note that we will have a question and answer period and report out during the parish meal on Sunday, September 5, 2021 to allow for questions in an open forum. However, please feel free to contact any of us, or any of the Parish Council members, with questions at any time. Or, if you prefer, use the second link below to ask a question or make a comment anonymously.

We thank you sincerely for your generous support of our parish! And we look forward to hearing from you at your convenience regarding this information.

Liturgy on your Name's Day?
26/8/21, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

It is a true blessing to have the opportunity to partake of Holy Communion on one's patron saint's day. Fr. Gregory is willing to consider serving Liturgy on your name's day – yes YOURS. If you would be willing to attend the Divine Services on the eve of the feast and on the feast itself, and to partake of Holy Communion on that day please contact him. This is not a guarantee that we can do this – but we can certainly try. But please don't tell him a week before. Something like six months before would be better – three months before as a minimum. See Fr. Gregory with questions or email ogrisha@stvladimiraami.org!

Weekly Educational Offering - Prepare for the Coming Sunday!
25/8/21, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

We present here a short educational offering for both children and adults on the upcoming Sunday's principle Gospel reading so that all can better prepare for the Divine Services. Parents are asked to review the children’s portion with their children. It is very important for us to attend the Divine Services on Sundays and whenever else we are able, but in addition it is our spiritual responsibility to educate ourselves and our families in the faith. It is our hope that this mid-week offering will be an aid in this regard. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions or suggestions.

For Adults: from the writings of Blessed Theophylact

For Youth: from the Antiochian Archdiocese (various age groups)
