“Do not ask for love from your neighbor, for if you ask and he does not respond you will be troubled. Instead, show your love for your neighbor and you will be at rest, and so you will bring your neighbor to love.”

We all have friends and loved ones that we want to introduce to the Church. But some people are shy – they might not want to visit right away or talk to one of our priests. For this reason we have provide the resources on our Catechism Resources page: books, articles, videos, and audio files. Please share the link with friend and loved ones – and please feel free to access those resources for your own edification too!

Covid Returns – Parish Advice
20/8/21, 03:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

As of August 18, 2021 Michigan has attained the highest coronavirus transmission level according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). At this level masks are recommended for indoor activities, both for vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals. As we have done from the beginning of the pandemic, we will align our parish advice with the CDC advice: we recommend (but do not mandate) masks for indoor activities beginning August 20, 2021. Thankfully this less than absolute rule will give all – both those who choose to wear masks and those who do not – the opportunity to exhibit the virtues of patience and empathy for those who make a choice opposite of our personal choice. We must strive not to simply be proficient at hiding our disgust with others who do not share our “wisdom”, but rather truly understand and embrace the decisions of others in this regard. There is not right or wrong in a recommendation, but there is evil and good in the way we react to others. Let us strive for good during this time when we are being given the blessing to fight our inclination to judge others and embrace patience, empathy, and love.

Spevka for All!

There are several prayers that we sing together at St. Vladimir's. We want you to know this so that you can practice. :) And as we come out of the pandemic it is the perfect time to practice MORE! That way we will sing these with zeal - with power! WE SHOULD BE LIFTING THE ROOF WHEN WE SING THESE - THEY SHOULD BE SUNG VERY STRONGLY - ESPECIALLY THE CREED AND "HAVING BEHELD THE RESURRECTION..."

IOCC Kits this Dormition Fast
18/8/21, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

The Lenten period in preparation for the feast of the Dormition of the Mother of God begins August 14. It is our tradition to make IOCC School Kits (to help kids in countries that need to bring their own school supplies to school in order to attend school) during this Lenten period. We’ll do the same this year with appropriate disease precautions. On Sunday, August 15 we will have a special collection to support this effort. If you can’t make it that day please contact Marina Edwards to make your donation. On Saturday, August 21 we will make the school kits following the Divine Liturgy (starting about 10:30 a.m.). This is an important effort to get our KIDS involved in. They will be helping their peers in other countries to be educated. Please plan to join us in supporting this important effort!

Weekly Educational Offering - Prepare for the Coming Sunday!
18/8/21, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

We present here a short educational offering for both children and adults on the upcoming Sunday's principle Gospel reading so that all can better prepare for the Divine Services. Parents are asked to review the children’s portion with their children. It is very important for us to attend the Divine Services on Sundays and whenever else we are able, but in addition it is our spiritual responsibility to educate ourselves and our families in the faith. It is our hope that this mid-week offering will be an aid in this regard. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions or suggestions.

For Adults: from the writings of Blessed Theophylact

For Youth: from the Antiochian Archdiocese (various age groups)
