Weekly Educational Offering - Prepare for the Coming Sunday!
27/7/22, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

We present here a short educational offering for both children and adults on the upcoming Sunday's principle Gospel reading so that all can better prepare for the Divine Services. Parents are asked to review the children’s portion with their children. It is very important for us to attend the Divine Services on Sundays and whenever else we are able, but in addition it is our spiritual responsibility to educate ourselves and our families in the faith. It is our hope that this mid-week offering will be an aid in this regard. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions or suggestions.

WOW – WHAT A WEEK! Let’s Get This Done by STV Day!

We have a matching grant! For every board or sheet of drywall you buy between now and July 28 an anonymous donor will buy another! That is, your donation is doubled! If you give $5 – our school gets $10. What does that mean? OUR GOAL IS TO BUY EVERYTHING NEEDED INTERIOR CONSTRCTION BY OUR PARISH FEAST DAY: JULY 28! We can do this if we do it together – and with generous help from our anonymous donor. To complete the inside of our school we need 650 2x4 boards and we need 425 sheets of drywall.

THIS LAST WEEK WE SOLD 420 BOARDS AND 244 SHEETS OF DRYWALL! THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT OF OUR SCHOOL!!!

As of today we have sold 575 2x4s. Therefore we have 75 boards to go!

As of today we have sold 415 sheets of drywall. Therefore we have 10 sheets to go!

We ask only that you note what you are buying so we can keep track of how many boards are still left to go! You could also use Zelle if that is easier, with “treasurer@stvladimiraami.org” as the entity to transfer to. Or Venmo “@stvladimirchurch”. LET’S FINISH BUILDING OUR SCHOOL!

DOUBLE YOUR DONATION TODAY

Cross Procession Thank You!

Posted by Fr. Gregory

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Cross Procession in Chelsea on July 24! We got a lot of positive feedback from those driving and walking by, the weather was great, and we were able to pray all through the procession.

SAVE THE DATE FOR THE NEXT PROCESSION: SEPTEMBER 11 IN YPSILANTI!

More detailed information will be available soon, but you can sign up now at the link below. Join us for a short procession (1-2 miles walking at most). During the procession we will stop at some logical place (town square, etc.) and hold a short concert and/or serve a short moleben. We will provide a traditional Orthodox witness to our communities: we will have information about Orthodox Christianity available for those who are interested, and talk to those who would like to learn more. Don’t miss this great opportunity to bring our faith to our neighbors! Sign up for Ypsilanti today!

Scripture Reading for the Coming Week
24/7/22, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

"This is the cause of all evils: the ignorance of the Scriptures. We go into battle without arms, and how ought we to come off safe?" -St. John Chrysostom, Homily IX on Colossians.

In order to help increase the general knowledge of scripture in our parish family we present here for your edification the scripture readings for the coming week. At least one Gospel Reading and one Epistle reading are assigned for each day of the year (although during Great Lent the readings are from the Old Testament). Hearing or reading only those readings appointed for Sunday merely scratches the surface of the great spiritual wealth that the scriptures provide us. Some of the readings are easily understandable – others are less so. As Orthodox Christians we do not make private interpretation of scripture, but rather consult the fathers of the Church for their explanations to aid us in our understanding. Those wishing to have access to such explanations are asked to contact Fr. Gregory or inquire in the kiosk for further reading in this regard. Bibles may also be acquired in the kiosk.

Monday: I Corinthians 5:9-6:11 & Matthew 13:54-58
Tuesday: I Corinthians 6:20-7:12 & Matthew 14:1-13
Wednesday: I Corinthians 7:12-24 & Matthew 14:35-15:11
Thursday: I Corinthians 7:24-35 & Matthew 15:12-21
Friday: I Corinthians 7:35-8:7 & Matthew 15:29-31
Saturday: Romans 12:1-3 & Matthew 10:37-11:1
