“If you give something to one in need, let the cheerfulness of your face precede your gift, and comfort his sorrow with kind words. When you do this, by your gift the gladness of his mind surpasses even the needs of his body.”

“Be a herald of God’s goodness, for God rules over you, unworthy though you are; for although your debt to Him is so great, yet He is not seen exacting payment from you, and from the small works you do, He bestows great rewards upon you.”

Lampadas above the Royal Doors - Please be Attentive
27/6/20, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

We ask all to be attentive to the system we have devised to help folks know when they can and when they cannot move about during the Divine Services to light candles, etc. Even as we ask all to be attentive we also ask all to be loving, and if someone clearly is not aware that we have reached a time in the Divine Service when we should be still that we share that information with them lovingly and in a way that will not cause embarrassment. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions or concerns.

Subdeacon Colin Bower Ordination + Services Daily Week of 6/29/20
22/6/20, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

Most will remember that our Colin Bower was to have been ordained a deacon when Archbishop Peter was to have visited during Great Lent. Due to the quarantine that visit was canceled. Vladyka has decided to ordain Colin on Sunday, June 28, at the Diocesan Cathedral of the Protection of the Mother of God in Des Plaines (Chicago), IL. This is because Pastoral School final exams and thesis defense are slated for June 27, and Colin is participating in the exams and thesis defense in any case.

This is a great blessing for our parish for which we should be very thankful! It is important for us and the future of our parish that those who are able are educated and ordained for service to the community. Please remember Colin, Kaity, and Macrina in your prayers. Our plan is, according to our usual practice, to serve evening services and Divine Liturgy daily the week of June 29. You can sign up for services for that week at the link below:

“In proportion to your humility you are given patience in your woes; and in proportion to your patience the burden of your afflictions is made lighter and you will find consolation; in proportion to your consolation, your love of God increases; and in proportion to your love, your joy in the Holy Spirit is magnified. Once men have truly become His sons, our tenderly compassionate Father does not take away their temptations from them when it is His pleasure to ‘make for them a way to escape’ (1 Cor. 10:13), but instead He gives His sons patience in their trials. All these good things are given into the hand of their patience for the perfecting of their souls.”

Most of us attend Liturgy regularly on Sundays, but rarely other days. Still, it is good to know when we make prostrations on weekdays, and this is why we have put together this handout. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions. See the handout in PDF format here:
