Apocalypse Bible Study Starts June 22
21/6/22, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

Please mark you calendars! Our Apocalypse Bible Study starts with a kickoff meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22 AT STV. If you are interested or if you have questions please send an email to info@stvladimiraami.org. The books by Fr. Laurence Farley are in at the kiosk. Please buy yours soon! Fr. Gregory loaned his book to someone and it never made it back, so if you have his copy please do give it back to him (since all his notes are in it). If that doesnt happen, well, well start from scratch! Well also use Archbishop Averkys book on the Apocalypse, but it is expensive, so texts will be shared at the meetings as needed. If you are coming to the meeting and could bring some refreshments please use the info mail above to volunteer. The full syllabus of the Bible Study can be found below.

Scripture Reading for the Coming Week
19/6/22, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

"This is the cause of all evils: the ignorance of the Scriptures. We go into battle without arms, and how ought we to come off safe?" -St. John Chrysostom, Homily IX on Colossians.

In order to help increase the general knowledge of scripture in our parish family we present here for your edification the scripture readings for the coming week. At least one Gospel Reading and one Epistle reading are assigned for each day of the year (although during Great Lent the readings are from the Old Testament). Hearing or reading only those readings appointed for Sunday merely scratches the surface of the great spiritual wealth that the scriptures provide us. Some of the readings are easily understandable others are less so. As Orthodox Christians we do not make private interpretation of scripture, but rather consult the fathers of the Church for their explanations to aid us in our understanding. Those wishing to have access to such explanations are asked to contact Fr. Gregory or inquire in the kiosk for further reading in this regard. Bibles may also be acquired in the kiosk.

Monday: Romans 2:28-3:18 & Matthew 6:31-34,7:9-11
Tuesday: Romans 4:4-12 & Matthew 7:15-21
Wednesday: Romans 4:13-25 & Matthew 7:21-23
Thursday: Romans 5:10-16 & Matthew 8:23-27
Friday: Romans 5:17-6:2 & Matthew 9:14-17
Saturday: Romans 3:19-26 & Matthew 7:1-8

Confession & Communion at St. Vladimirs + Rule to Prepare for Communion

Posted by Fr. Gregory

Confession and Communion are the two sacraments we most often partake of as Orthodox Christians and thus it behooves us to learn about these, how to prepare for these, and how to best take advantage of the Grace that our Lord freely gives us in these sacraments. At St. Vladimirs we have created a special web site for this purpose with much information in this regard. Please find the web site listed below and please contact Fr. Gregory with questions!

Looking Forward Next Hierarchal Visit + Ordination
17/6/22, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

God willing, Archbishop Peter will visit our parish on Saturday, August 27. Please begin to plan now for that date so that you can join us for the visit of our Abba our father in Christ. Our hierarchs are the successors to the Apostles. All should plan to be present for the Divine Services on August 26 and 27, and if at all possible to prepare to partake of Holy Communion on August 27. Archbishop Peter has blessed the ordination of Subdeacon Dmitri Mihaliov as a Deacon, and that ordination will take place at the Liturgy on August 27. DO NOT MISS THIS VISIT!
