Members Pick Your Duty
29/6/21, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

At the annual meeting on Sunday, May 16 we explained that it is understood and expected that each member of our parish would have at least one duty that they participate in IN ADDITION to attending the Divine Services. This ranges from baking prosphora, to picking sticks in the cemetery, to shoveling snow, and more! If we all do our little part we will equitably care for the parish the Lord has entrusted to us, and we will not kill off those who do these things if no one else does. It is wise for us to preserve the leadership of our parish, but it is also moral for each parish member to do their part. So please pitch in, and if you have not chosen your duty yet please contact our new parish Secretary, Marina Edwards. If she doesnt hear from you she will reach out to you soon. You can email her at info@stvladimiraami.org or see her in church. Thank you diligently following through on this program. More involvement in the parish promotes persistence in being part of the parish family and it keeps a few people from doing everything. With Gods help we will make our metaphor of family even more real in our parish by working together for Gods glory in this way!

Monday First Things - Teachings of the Holy Fathers
28/6/21, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

Let thy mind fast from vain thoughts; let thy memory fast from remembering evil; let thy will fast from evil desire; let thine eyes fast from bad sights: turn away thine eyes that thou mayest not see vanity; let thine ears fast from vile songs and slanderous whispers; let thy tongue fast from slander, condemnation, blasphemy, falsehood, deception, foul language and every idle and rotten word; let thy hands fast from killing and from stealing anothers goods; let thy legs fast from going to evil deeds: Turn away from evil, and do good.

We are Throwing Away Money
24/6/21, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

We were very thankful to receive a check from Prime Dental for $595 on Sunday. That was great! That is 10% of the fees charged to St. Vladimirians there for the last quarter. But it could be so much more! Just a short trip to Farmington Hills to receive state of the art dental care and you will be supporting our building fund. And here's the thing: you are getting your teeth cared for somewhere. Why not support your parish while you do that?

Call Prime Dental now and make an appointment (and talk to them about PPO insurance and other such details). Care for your teeth and help us to build our new church!

Weekly Educational Offering - Prepare for the Coming Sunday!
23/6/21, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

We present here a short educational offering for both children and adults on the upcoming Sunday's principle Gospel reading so that all can better prepare for the Divine Services. Parents are asked to review the childrens portion with their children. It is very important for us to attend the Divine Services on Sundays and whenever else we are able, but in addition it is our spiritual responsibility to educate ourselves and our families in the faith. It is our hope that this mid-week offering will be an aid in this regard. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions or suggestions.

For Adults: from the writings of Blessed Theophylact

For Youth: from the Antiochian Archdiocese (various age groups)

22/6/21, 06:00 PM

We built the barn for the festival, but in the pandemic we used it for worship. The last Divine Liturgy in the barn was June 20. On Saturday, July 10 we will meet after Liturgy (about 10:00 a.m. or so) to start turning the barn back into festival space. Join us! This will be work - but it will be fun! We need you! Let's get off to a great start preparing for this year's festival! All are welcome!
