Monday First Things - Teachings of the Holy Fathers
14/6/21, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

“In going to church, think that thou art going to the house of the King of Heaven, where with fear and joy one ought to stand as in heaven before the King of Heaven. While standing in church, do not look around to the sides and do not look at how someone is standing and praying, lest thou be condemned with the Pharisee, since thou didst not come to judge others, but to ask for mercy for thyself from God the Judge and Knower of hearts. Gaze with compunction toward the altar alone, where the holy sacrifice is offered. More than anything else, beware of laughter and conversations, for whoever laughs or converses while standing in church does not render honor to the holy place and tempts others and prevents others from praying.”

Spevka for All!

There are several prayers that we sing together at St. Vladimir's. We want you to know this so that you can practice. :) And as we come out of the pandemic it is the perfect time to practice MORE! That way we will sing these with zeal - with power! WE SHOULD BE LIFTING THE ROOF WHEN WE SING THESE - THEY SHOULD BE SUNG VERY STRONGLY - ESPECIALLY THE CREED AND "HAVING BEHELD THE RESURRECTION..."

Saturday Vigil (and matins during Pentecost) - "Having Beheld the Resurrection of Christ":

Most of us use amazon.com on some sort of regular basis. Why not do that shopping on Amazon Smile (smile.amazon.com) and choose “St Vladimir Russian Orthodox Church” (Location: Dexter, MI) as your charity? This is EXACTLY the same web site as amazon.com, but a portion of every dollar you spend goes to support St. Vladimir’s. It is EASY, QUICK, and PAINLESS. Click HERE to start using Amazon Smile and Support St. Vladimir’s – Thank You!
