Maria Karas, the wife of our first parish Rector, Archpriest Paul Karas, fell asleep in the Lord on the feast of Mid-Pentecost, May 26, 2021. The funeral will be at St. Vladimir’s at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 3, 2021 with burial to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in the Russian Orthodox section, alongside her beloved Fr. Paul. We ask your prayers for the newly reposed, and comfort for the grieving. May the memory of our good, kind, loving Matushka be eternal!

We present here a short educational offering for both children and adults on the upcoming Sunday's principle Gospel reading so that all can better prepare for the Divine Services. Parents are asked to review the children’s portion with their children. It is very important for us to attend the Divine Services on Sundays and whenever else we are able, but in addition it is our spiritual responsibility to educate ourselves and our families in the faith. Come celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord with our whole parish family in the best pandemic style!

Please join us Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. and Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. for the feast of Mid-Pentecost. This is the half way point between Pascha and Pentecost. After the Divine Liturgy there is a lesser blessing of water. This water was traditionally used to bless the fields that are planted at this time of year. At that time, the High Priest was in ecstasy, filled with the Spirit of God, and understood that the maiden was the dwelling place of divine grace and more worthy then he to stand always before God’s countenance. He remembered that the Law commended the Ark be placed in the Holy of Holies and straightway perceived that this ordinance pertained to the maiden.
