Confession & Communion at St. Vladimirs + Rule to Prepare for Communion
23/4/23, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

Confession and Communion are the two sacraments we most often partake of as Orthodox Christians and thus it behooves us to learn about these, how to prepare for these, and how to best take advantage of the Grace that our Lord freely gives us in these sacraments. At St. Vladimirs we have created a special web site for this purpose with much information in this regard. Please find the web site listed below and please contact Fr. Gregory with questions!

You Are a Missionary
22/4/23, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

The Lord has entrusted us with the Pearl of Great Price the Orthodox Faith. Are we hiding this? Are we keeping it for ourselves? Or are we following the example of the Apostles and working actively to spread our saving faith? If you had the cure for a bodily disease like cancer you would never keep that to yourself it is obvious that this would be unethical and sinful. But we have the cure for DEATH! And sadly we mostly keep it to ourselves. And that is even more unethical and sinful than hiding the cure for any bodily disease. Share your faith. Invite a friend, loved one, or neighbor to the Divine Services this coming weekend and assure them that you will be there to welcome them to St. Vladimirs. If we would all do this if we would make just a minimal effort to invite others we would need to seriously rethink the size of the new church we plan to build because it would be way TOO SMALL. Lets do that. Lets make all our plans useless because there are just too many people in our parish family! Success only comes before work in the dictionary let us get to work spreading our Orthodox Faith by simply inviting others to join us at St. Vladimirs!

Non-Perishable Food Collections: Always at STV
20/4/23, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

At STV we collect non-perishable food items. Always. We don't have food drives - we do this every single day. There are many people in our local community who are food insecure. We ask our parishioners to bring a can or box of non-perishable food every time they come to church. Make this a part of your family worship! The little you give means a lot to a family who is food insecure. Remember our Lord's admonition to us in this regard: "For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." (Matthew 25:35-40)
