New St. Vladimir’s Church
6/3/19, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

At Sunday's annual parish assembly we presented information about the new St. Vladimir Church and how we, as a parish, can pay for this. The key number to remember is $4.60 per day. If each of us can find that money we can start construction in 24 months and be debt free in our new building in 43 months. Less than 4 years! But some folks don’t have that money – that is their financial reality. That is OK! We are asking ALL our parishioners to challenge and stretch themselves – and then to make a pledge based on what they can do. If we all pitch in as the Lord has blessed us we will make it happen! Those who can give less will be covered by those who can give more.

We are in the quiet phase of our fund raising now. We have to build the school first! But some folks want to give to the church project now and we welcome that.

Virtues are formed by prayer. Prayer preserves temperance. Prayer suppresses anger. Prayer prevents emotions of pride and envy. Prayer draws into the soul the Holy Spirit, and raises man to Heaven.

English Liturgies - Invite Your Friends and Loved Ones!
28/2/19, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

Our parish practice is to serve one cycle of Divine Services per month (Friday Evening Services and Saturday Divine Liturgy) completely in English. This is a missionary effort designed to allow those who are interested in Orthodox Christianity to more easily access the beauty of the Divine Services – the “theology in action” of the Holy Church. However, ALL ARE WELCOME at these services! Please invite friends and loved ones! Let us work together to no longer allow Orthodox Christianity to be the best kept secret in the spiritual life of North America! Please join us! Evening Services begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday with Divine Liturgy at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday according to the schedule below.

Annual Meeting Preparation – Homework for March 3
26/2/19, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

This Sunday’s Annual Meeting will be VERY full. For this reason, we are asking everyone to read the reports in advance. We also ask that you ask questions in advance. Each report will receive 5 minutes of question and answer/discussion time at the meeting on Sunday. If questions and answers are not exhausted after 5 minutes an additional 5 minutes will be allotted. Please take the time now to review the materials at this page, where you can also ask questions and find answers to the questions that are posed:

ANNUAL MEETING PREPARATION

We have run our diocesan assemblies in this manner for more than 10 years, and this format, namely, read first and ask questions or discuss at the meeting, is the most efficient and informative we have found. Thank you for taking the time to do this “homework” before the meeting – we think you will all be pleased with the results in that we will accomplish MUCH more, and the meeting will take much less time than in previous years.

House Blessing Time – Make Your Appointment Now!
25/2/19, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

Each year following the feast of the Theophany (the Lord’s Baptism – January 19) it is a traditional and pious custom to have one’s home blessed by the priest. Homes are blessed at St. Vladimir’s until the beginning of Great Lent. Please visit this link to make an appointment:

SCHEDULE A HOUSE BLESSING

Please contact Fr. Gregory to schedule a house blessing if the times listed do not work for you. If you cannot find a convenient time please contact Fr. Gregory - homes can be blessed through the 5th week of Great Lent if need be. If you live far from St. Vladimir’s please consult with those other parishioners of St. Vladimir’s who live near you so that you can all have your homes blessed on the same day. If you would like to have Fr. Moses bless your house please contact him at 530-591-0416 or priestmoses@gmail.com. Generally he can bless houses after 5:00 p.m. on weekdays, but has more availability on Saturdays and Sundays. Congratulations to all with the feast of our Lord’s Baptism!

Come, let us wonder at the virgin most pure, wondrous in herself, unique in creation, she gave birth, yet knew no man; her pure soul with wonder was filled, daily her mind gave praise in joy at the twofold wonder: her virginity preserved, her child most dear. Blessed is He who shone forth from her!
