11/2/17, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

Young people who can read clearly and loudly are welcome and urged to participate! THIS IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR YOUNG PEOPLE TO BE ENGAGED IN PARISH LIFE! According to Fr. Gregory it is very important for young people to be engaged now so they persist in the Church into adulthood.

The sign up sheet can be found at the link below. PARENTS: if you can help organize this please contact Fr. Gregory. For now until we find an organizer we'll just use this Google Doc, and maybe that will be enough. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions!

40 Consecutive Liturgy Commemoration Now Available
9/2/17, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

Many people ask us for 40-day commemorations at the Divine Liturgy. This practice remembering someone who is ill or who has died for 40 consecutive days at the Divine Liturgy is known as Sorokoust. We do not serve Liturgy every day at St. Vladimir's. But we did serve 122 Liturgies last year. Thank God we have the opportunity to serve Liturgy often. We provide a sort of modified Sorokoust for our parish family. We can commemorate your friends or loved ones at 40 consecutive Liturgies. This will take more than 40 days, but nonetheless it will indeed be helpful for those who are commemorated. Please arrange these special commemorations with Fr. Gregory or with Albina Seraphimovna at the parish kiosk. There is no cost for these commemorations, but it is common to give a donation in thanksgiving for the prayers. The amount is completely up to those arranging the Sorokoust and, as with other special services at St. Vladimir's, should be based on your financial situation. If God has blessed you with much you should give much. If He has blessed you with little, you should give little. Please see Fr. Gregory with questions about this or any other spiritual issue.

Proper Attire in Church
8/2/17, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

As the weather cools it is always a temptation to come to church dressed not quite appropriately. We provide the information below as a guide to help make good decisions about what to wear to church:

PARENTS: it is YOUR responsibility to assure that your child is dressed appropriately.

TWO ISSUES WE STRUGGLE WITH EVERY YEAR: no shorts and no uncovered shoulders - no matter the age.

ANOTHER ISSUE WE STRUGGLE WITH: we have skirts and shawls to share if needed. But these are not items to be used as weapons in the attack of a visitor, but to be offered lovingly if it is clear that someone feels out of place because they innocently came to church dressed inappropriately.

Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions or concerns.
