By joining St. Vladimir's you show your visible support of the parish which nourishes you and your family spiritually. We all hope the parish will be there when we need it (for marriages, funerals, baptisms, etc.). By joining the parish we support it both spiritually and financially and ensure it is there for us in our time of need, whether that be every day or a few times per year.

To renew your membership or to become a new member, please contact one of our membership coordinators (both speak English & Russian fluently): Dmitry Knysh (dmitriknysh@hotmail.com or 734-358-5996), or Konstantin Poplavsky (kepoplavsky@yahoo.com or 419-344-2071). We cordially invite you to join our parish family!

We ask everyone to fill out this Member Stewardship Information Form and hand it to a Membership Coordinator with your membership dues for the year:

Volunteer to Help Ann Arbor Orthodox Classical Academy

Posted by Fr. Gregory

Things are really ramping up as we get ready to open our parish day school in September of 2021! Enough, in fact, that we need more than just our board of directors working on the many things that need to be done. Could you help? Maybe one or two hours per month? Maybe a little more? Please send us a note to let us know youd like to help, and mention the skill sets youd like to utilize in this volunteer work. Thank you in advance for your willingness to help us start strong as we open the first Orthodox School in Michigan later this year!

Please join us Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. and Thursday at 8:00 a.m. for the annual commemoration of St. Basil the Great and the Circumcision of the Lord. If you cannot come to Vigil or Liturgy please try to join us on one of our live streams.

All are welcome! The services will be inside the church, so we ask that you sign up. This allows us to understand the number of people that will attend since we have limited, physically distanced spaces inside the temple. The link to the sign up sheet can be found on our parish home page. If you have any trouble finding that please email: info@stvladimriaami.org.

Monday First Things - Teachings of the Holy Fathers

In order that you may move your will more easily to this one desire, in everythingto please God and to work for His glory aloneremind yourself often, that He has granted you many favours in the past and has shown you His love. He has created you out of nothing in His own likeness and image, and has made all other creatures your servants; He has delivered you from your slavery to the devil, sending down not one of the angels but His Only-begotten Son to redeem you, not at the price of corruptible gold and silver, but by His priceless blood and His most painful and degrading death. Having done all this He protects you, every hour and every moment, from your enemies; He fights your battles by His divine grace; in His immaculate Mysteries He prepares the Body and Blood of His beloved Son for your food and protection. All this is a sign of Gods great favour and love for you; a favour so great that it is inconceivable how the great Lord of hosts could grant such favours to our nothingness and worthlessness.

Scripture Reading for the Coming Week
10/1/21, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

"This is the cause of all evils: the ignorance of the Scriptures. We go into battle without arms, and how ought we to come off safe?" -St. John Chrysostom, Homily IX on Colossians.

In order to help increase the general knowledge of scripture in our parish family we present here for your edification the scripture readings for the coming week. At least one Gospel Reading and one Epistle reading are assigned for each day of the year (although during Great Lent the readings are from the Old Testament). Hearing or reading only those readings appointed for Sunday merely scratches the surface of the great spiritual wealth that the scriptures provide us. Some of the readings are easily understandable others are less so. As Orthodox Christians we do not make private interpretation of scripture, but rather consult the fathers of the Church for their explanations to aid us in our understanding. Those wishing to have access to such explanations are asked to contact Fr. Gregory or inquire in the kiosk for further reading in this regard. Bibles may also be acquired in the kiosk.

Monday: James 2:14-26 & Mark 10:46-52
Tuesday: James 3:1-10 & Mark 11:11-23
Wednesday: James 3:11-4:6 & Mark 11:22-26
Thursday: Colossians 2:8-11 & Luke 2:20-21,40-52
Friday: I Peter 1:1-2,10-12,2:6-10 & Mark 12:1-12
Saturday: I Thessalonians 5:14-23 & Luke 17:3-10

Please find below several very nice articles on how to read the scripture from an Orthodox point of view.
