Summer is a time when many people go on vacation – and often we are seeking something to read while we are on vacation. Why not help yourself spiritually and pick up a book from the Kiosk or check one out from our PARISH LIBRARY? We have wonderful resources for you – please take advantage of these for your own spiritual growth!

With Archbishop Peter’s blessing Fr. Gregory will be away on his annual family vacation August 1-17. In an emergency please contact Fr. Colin at (734) 890-8236, or the parish phone number at (734) 475-4590. The parish schedule of services will continue as published.

Please note that the Lenten period in preparation for the feast of the Dormition of the Mother of God begins on August 14. This is fast of a stricter character, similar to Great Lent. Fish is allowed only on the feast of the Transfiguration, August 19. It is important that we make a sincere effort at fasting by abstaining from meat and dairy products, but with the express intent of abstaining from these foods to aid us in abstaining from our sins and preparing ourselves worthily for the feast of the Dormition. As with all fasting periods, we abstain from meat and dairy products during this fast. The full schedule of Divine Services denotes the strictness of the fasting days and can be found here:

We present here a short educational offering for both children and adults on the upcoming Sunday's principle Gospel reading so that all can better prepare for the Divine Services. Parents are asked to review the children’s portion with their children. It is very important for us to attend the Divine Services on Sundays and whenever else we are able, but in addition it is our spiritual responsibility to educate ourselves and our families in the faith. It is our hope that this mid-week offering will be an aid in this regard. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions or suggestions.

Gregory’s on Sunday, October 1 at 6:00 p.m. No agenda, except for our mature men to mentor our young men, and our young men to inspire our mature men. If we support each other the body of Christ is strengthened and everyone wins, including Christian women, who need strong Christian men (just as Christian men need strong Christian women).

“The more time passes, the closer the devil comes to his end, so he fights and struggles with extreme rage to condemn us all to hell. Especially now during Great Lent, which is coming, the thoroughly malicious demons incite many temptations and disturbances against us. Since we oppress them more severely with fasting and prayer during this time, they also become more fierce against us. So see to it that you win crowns in this arena of struggling. You must become braver and array yourself face to face against those bodiless enemies. Don’t be afraid of them. You don’t see how many of them fall and turn their backs with every prayer you say. You only see how much you are wounded. But they are also thrashed; they also suffer. Every time we are patient, they flee with leaps and bounds, and every time we say the prayer, they are seriously injured.
