DIVINE SERVICES FOR SUNDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2022

Each year around the feast of St. Demetrius of Thessalonica (whose relics reside in our parish foundation) there is a special Church-wide commemoration of the departed: Demetrius Saturday. This year Demetrius Saturday falls on October 29. At St. Vladimir's we will hold Vespers & Matins on Friday, October 28 at 6:00 p.m. and Divine Liturgy and a Pannykhida on Saturday, October 29 at 8:00 a.m. Please email names for the memorial services to info@stvladimiraami.org or visit our commemoration page and fill out the form there:

COMMEMORATION REQUESTS
Differentiate between Orthodox and non-Orthodox departed. We pray for both, but we pray differently and we want to do this appropriately – according to the Church’s established practices.

For those young people who do not sing in the choir or serve in the altar WE NEED YOU! Bells are a very important part of our worship, and we need to get those bells ringing again! To learn more contact our Head Bell Ringer John Hill. All are welcome!

Please join us for the feast of St. Sergius of Radonezh (October 8 at 9:00 a.m.) at St. Vladimir's. We are pleased to announce that our Michigan Deanery Youth Choir will sing at this Divine Liturgy. All are welcome! Come support your Michigan Deanery Youth Choir!

We present here a short educational offering for both children and adults on the upcoming Sunday's principle Gospel reading so that all can better prepare for the Divine Services. Parents are asked to review the children’s portion with their children. It is very important for us to attend the Divine Services on Sundays and whenever else we are able, but in addition it is our spiritual responsibility to educate ourselves and our families in the faith. It is our hope that this mid-week offering will be an aid in this regard. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions or suggestions.

For Various Ages: from the Antiochian Archdiocese (various age groups)

There was too much rain last Saturday to paint the church. But the forecast looks good for this Saturday! And several folks are on board already (based on discussions on Sunday). Join the winning team this Saturday! Wear paint clothes. We’ll provide everything else! Start: 10:00 a.m. Lunch provided!

St. Vladimir’s Church School begins September 24! Classes will be held every Saturday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. through December 17 with the exception of November 24. We have condensed the classes to the greatest extent possible for the convenience of our busy families – we value your time. Please do us the favor of valuing the time of the teachers and other volunteers who make our Church School possible by being on time.

All children are urged to participate in the Vigil following Church School and in the Sunday (and other feast day) Divine Liturgies to the greatest extent possible by ringing bells, serving in the altar, singing, helping in the kiosk, and most importantly by being present in the church and praying with their parish family, AND ESPECIALLY by partaking of the Holy Mysteries. The Liturgy is not a spectacle or event that we watch, but a prayerful “work of the people” that we participate in through our prayerful involvement. Please contact Fr. Gregory or Fr.
