The akathist and the festival meeting tonight are cancelled at Saint Vladimir's. The roads are simply not safe to travel on and there is little hope that they will be by the time the evening activities were have to begun. Thank you for your understanding!

We have begun our 2016 festival meetings and you - YES YOU - are invited! Please join us every Wednesday after the akathist. The akathist begins at 6:00 p.m. and the festival meeting about 7:00 p.m. Last year's festival was great - pitch in now to make this year's even better! No, in fact it is not. Despite the fact that the annual calendars we sent to your homes say that it is Cheesefare this week. That is an error. Cheesefare Week is March 7-13. Great Lent begins March 14. THIS WEEK is the annual non-fasting week following the Sunday of the Publican and the Pharisee. This is a non-fasting week not to promote gluttony, but to send us the message that we shall not fast proudly - as the Pharisee did. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions regarding fasting - or any aspect of our faith.

With the weekend thaw the parking lots will be muddy this Sunday. Those who would like their vehicles valet parked should enter the property via the old driveway (take an immediate left after entering the new driveway) and stop at the entrance to the church. Our Brotherhood members will then safely park your car for you and return your keys to you. During lunch the Brotherhood will again be on duty to fetch your car for you. We thank you for your patience as we battle the elements and various government regulations (for instance, spring road weight restrictions on trucks that haul gravel) that make it a challenge for us to get the parking lots covered with gravel or otherwise assure that the parking lots are not muddy. We continue to work with our contractors to fix this problem and hope to have it solved in the next week or two.

Last year we had a small committee help Fr. Gregory and Nathan plan our St. Vladimir's day festivities. That worked very well! This year is our 35th anniversary as a parish and we'd like to form another smallish committee to help plan. We will have a lot of guests this year, including at least one bishop visiting from Russia with Bishop Peter's blessing (of course Vladyka Peter will be here too!). Please contact Fr. Gregory or Nathan if you can help. We would like to form the committee before Great Lent, which begins on March 14.

If you have been helping us with the greeter ministry or if you would like to join (and be honest – you know you do!) we will hold a meeting for the greeters after liturgy this Sunday and YOU ARE INVITED! If you would like to learn more, or if you would like to be included on the greeter schedule but can't make it to the meeting this Sunday please email info@stvladimiraami.org Teens and older are welcome and we ask parents to facilitate their child's attendance. His Eminence Metropolitan Jonah will visit St. Vladimir's Saturday and Sunday February 27 and 28 with the blessing of His Grace Bishop Peter, Administrator of our Diocese. Vigil on February 27 will begin at 5:00 p.m. with Divine Liturgy on February 28 at 9:00 a.m. Please make plans now to join us for the Divine Services and please stay after the Liturgy on Sunday for a banquet in the Metropolitan's honor at which he will give the inaugural lecture for our 2016 Great Lenten Lecture Series.
