You Are a Missionary!
5/11/22, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

The Lord has entrusted us with the Pearl of Great Price – the Orthodox Faith. Are we hiding this? Are we keeping it for ourselves? Or are we following the example of the Apostles and working actively to spread our saving faith? If you had the cure for a bodily disease like cancer you would never keep that to yourself – it is obvious that this would be unethical and sinful. But we have the cure for DEATH! And sadly – we mostly keep it to ourselves. And that is even more unethical and sinful than hiding the cure for any bodily disease. Share your faith. Invite a friend, loved one, or neighbor to the Divine Services this coming weekend – and assure them that you will be there to welcome them to St. Vladimir’s. If we would all do this – if we would make just a minimal effort to invite others – we would need to seriously rethink the size of the new church we plan to build because it would be way TOO SMALL. Let’s do that. Let’s make all our plans useless because there are just too many people in our parish family! Success only comes before work in the dictionary – let us get to work spreading our Orthodox Faith by simply inviting others to join us at St. Vladimir’s!

Church School is IN SESSION!
4/11/22, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

St. Vladimir’s Church School begins September 24! Classes will be held every Saturday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. through December 17 with the exception of November 24. We have condensed the classes to the greatest extent possible for the convenience of our busy families – we value your time. Please do us the favor of valuing the time of the teachers and other volunteers who make our Church School possible by being on time.

All children are urged to participate in the Vigil following Church School and in the Sunday (and other feast day) Divine Liturgies to the greatest extent possible by ringing bells, serving in the altar, singing, helping in the kiosk, and most importantly by being present in the church and praying with their parish family, AND ESPECIALLY by partaking of the Holy Mysteries. The Liturgy is not a spectacle or event that we watch, but a prayerful “work of the people” that we participate in through our prayerful involvement. Please contact Fr. Gregory or Fr. Colin with questions in this regard.

To learn more about our Church School please contact the Church School Coordinator, Alexandra Pyrozhenko at info@stvladimiraami.org or visit our Church School Page.

Our Billboard at STV
3/11/22, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

The Church does not engage in politics, but it does stand up for its moral teachings and speaks out when these are under attack. All are welcome to their political views. But we do hope your views will be strongly influenced by the moral teaching of the Church when applicable, and we welcome questions in that regard to Fr. Gregory or Fr. Colin.

Proposal 3 is a direct attack on the moral teachings of the Church. This is a proposal to change the Michigan Constitution to potentially allow abortion on demand up to birth, and remove all parental rights for minor children’s health decisions pertaining to abortion and transgender sterilization and mutilation. The proposal can only be called spiritually evil. And Orthodox Christians must fight against evil. Therefore we have placed this advertisement on our billboard through Election Day. We urge all to vote against Proposal 3 - and to thereby vote against evil.

Second Pascha of Former Ann Arbor Parish is Today
3/11/22, 12:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

The parish that existed in Ann Arbor in the 1950s, and was subsequently dissolved when no priest could be sent after the death of Fr. Peter DeMett, was named in honor of the Venerable Hilarion the Great. This is why we have an icon of St. Hilarion on our iconostasis – as a sort of spiritual continuity with those who first founded a Russian Orthodox Church here in Ann Arbor .The feast of St. Hilarion this year falls on Thursday, November 3. We invite all St. Vladimir’s parishioners on this day to fervently entreat the prayers of the favorite of God, St. Hilarion the Great, that the work begun by those first Russian Orthodox Christians in Ann Arbor will be continued worthily by us sinners, the parish family of St. Vladimir Church. Learn more about St. Hilarion at the links below!

Weekly Educational Offering - Prepare for the Coming Sunday!
2/11/22, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

We present here a short educational offering for both children and adults on the upcoming Sunday's principle Gospel reading so that all can better prepare for the Divine Services. Parents are asked to review the children’s portion with their children. It is very important for us to attend the Divine Services on Sundays and whenever else we are able, but in addition it is our spiritual responsibility to educate ourselves and our families in the faith. It is our hope that this mid-week offering will be an aid in this regard. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions or suggestions.
