Halloween Alternative at St. Vladimir's
5/11/21, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

On Sunday evening, October 31, we held our traditional Halloween alternative at St. Vladimir’s. Following Vespers for St. John of Kronstadt there were games for kids and the adults did some work in the church proper. After that we shared a meal together with positive social time. A great turnout, great fun, and a nice way to spend an evening together as brothers and sisters in Christ! See all pictures from the event at the link below.

Each year around the feast of St. Demetrius of Thessalonica (whose relics reside in our parish foundation) there is a special Church-wide commemoration of the departed: Demetrius Saturday. This year Demetrius Saturday falls on November 6. At St. Vladimir's we will hold Vespers & Matins on Friday, November 5 at 6:00 p.m. and Divine Liturgy and a Pannykhida on Saturday, November 6 at 8:00 a.m. Please email names for the memorial services to info@stvladimiraami.org or visit our commemoration page and fill out the form there:

COMMEMORATION REQUESTS

Differentiate between Orthodox and non-Orthodox departed. We pray for both, but we pray differently and we want to do this appropriately – according to the Church’s established practices.

Food Gatherers Donations – THANK YOU!
3/11/21, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

We just received word from Food Gatherers that we have recently donated 2000 pounds of food to their feeding program. Thank you to everyone who has made it their good habit to bring non-perishable food items to church! And if you haven’t picked up that good habit yet: please give yourself a little push and ask the Lord’s help to acquire this good habit. With our small effort and God’s Grace all things are possible! Now Food Gatherers needs most: canned soups, canned meats (tuna, chicken, etc.), dry pasta, and rice. Need to buy those things for your family? Thrown one more can or box into your shopping cart and invest, as St. John Chrysostom says, in the stomachs of those in need, for the dividends are treasure in Heaven!

Weekly Educational Offering - Prepare for the Coming Sunday!
3/11/21, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

We present here a short educational offering for both children and adults on the upcoming Sunday's principle Gospel reading so that all can better prepare for the Divine Services. Parents are asked to review the children’s portion with their children. It is very important for us to attend the Divine Services on Sundays and whenever else we are able, but in addition it is our spiritual responsibility to educate ourselves and our families in the faith. It is our hope that this mid-week offering will be an aid in this regard. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions or suggestions.

For Adults: from the writings of Blessed Theophylact

For Youth: from the Antiochian Archdiocese (various age groups)

Each first Sunday of the month we will have Parish Council members ready to help you during the parish meal. Help you by answering questions you may have about why you should support your parish. Help you by answering questions about how you can support your parish. Help you by assisting you in setting up a recurring donation to support St. Vladimir’s if you would like to do so. No one will attack you. :) But if you would like help, or you have questions, we are setting aside this time specifically for this purpose.

Second Pascha of Former Ann Arbor Parish is Wednesday, November 3
2/11/21, 12:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

The parish that existed in Ann Arbor in the 1950s and was subsequently dissolved when no priest could be sent after the death of Fr. Peter DeMett was named in honor of the Venerable Hilarion the Great. The feast of St. Hilarion this year falls on Wednesday, November 3. We invite all St. Vladimir’s parishioners to be present this day for the Divine Services in honor of St. Hilarion, to prepare themselves to partake of the Holy Mysteries, and to fervently entreat the prayers of the favorite of God, St. Hilarion the Great, that the work begun by those first Russian Orthodox Christians in Ann Arbor will be continued worthily by us sinners, the parish family of St. Vladimir Church. Please plan to join us! Liturgy begins at 8:00 a.m.! If you can't be there in person, please join us virtually on one of our live streams.
