FESTIVAL!!! Everything YOU can do to HELP
12/9/16, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory
The festival is coming soon – and this is great! This is our most important missionary outreach of the year. Every year new people begin to attend our parish after the festival and thank God for that!

But as with all our spiritual endeavors first comes work – then success. And now it is time to work!

Sign up to Volunteer – Each and Every One of us is needed:

Please note – the names there are from the big sign up sheet that went around at church. Please adjust your names to the days and times you can work!

Visit, Like, and Share our Festival Page on Facebook:

https://www.facebook.com/AnnArborRussianFestival

Share the Festival Flyer via Email, Facebook, etc.:

Print, cut, distribute the flyer in a smaller form at your place of work or in your neighborhood:

PLACE SIGNS IN THE COMMUNITY! We will have signs available after Liturgy Sunday 9/4 and Sunday 9/11. Listen for the announcement after Liturgy and take and place signs in your neighborhood!

PRAY! That’s right – pray for the success of the festival. This is our biggest missionary effort of the year – and we should pray that the Lord help us to make it a success. Along those lines, if you would like to volunteer to help with church tours (the church is open for the entire festival) you can do that at this link:

Please join us in our work, that this festival will be a HUGE success and for the glory of God!

Support YOUR Parish – Even when you are Away!
10/9/16, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory
It is understood that everyone wants to support St. Vladimir's. But sometimes we don't make it to church. We reflect on this most about this time of year, when we plan vacations and we know we are going to be gone. How to make sure that we are still supporting our parish when we are unable to be in church? The best way is to fill out an ACH form and get it to our Treasurer or Starosta. You can find the ACH form here – please print and fill one out today:

Greeter Ministry – Join Today!
9/9/16, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory
Our Greeter Ministry aims to welcome existing parish members and visitors as they enter St. Vladimir and assist them in any way possible. In order to do that effectively we need to have team of about 8 people that volunteer in groups of two to be greeters each Sunday morning. What does it mean to be a greeter? A greeter will be a friendly person available to answer questions, guide people to the available pamphlets about the church and Orthodoxy, provide them with informational bulletin, invite them to stay for the meal after Liturgy and make polite conversation with them during the meal if they chose to stay. The greeter is the person that the visitors knows is there to help. Please join us! Contact Addie or Nathan today to participate in this important ministry of welcoming new comers to the parish!

This Sunday is a Fast Day
9/9/16, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory
This Sunday marks the commemoration of the Beheading of St. John the Baptist. This is one of those days that has an underlying repentant aspect, and because of this, August 29/September 11 is always a lenten day - no matter what day of the week this feast falls on. This Sunday also marks 15 years since the terrorist acts in New York, Washington DC, and the valiant and selfless crashing of the fourth plane by the passengers on it in a Pennsylvania corn field. Knowing what had happened to the other three planes, the passengers, understanding that they too would perish in any case, decided to save those targeted by their plane by attacking the hijackers. Subsequently that plane crashed and all were lost, but those who were the targets of that plane were spared. The great loss of life on this day, and especially the honorable choice those on the fourth plane made, will always be remembered on this day, which is completely and absolutely appropriate given the tenor of this day according to the Orthodox reckoning. Please join us to commemorate the sad beheading of St. John and to remember those who were killed on this day in America 15 years ago.

Walk of Life Thank You!
6/9/16, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory
Much hard work went into our parish hosting the second annual Walk of Life Pilgrimage these last few days. And there are many, many people to thank. THANK YOU ALL! This was a really significant undertaking - and just before our festival for the second year in a row. As most are aware, the plan was to hold the pilgrimage elsewhere this year, but that could not be done and so we had the honor of hosting the pilgrims for a second time. We simply cannot say thank you enough! We have an active parish, and it is important that this activity be shared by many. If you did not have a chance to volunteer for the pilgrimage please make sure to do so for the festival. We must share the love of labor for the sake of Christ so that we do not burn out those who are the most willing to serve! We all have a duty to conduct ministry - to serve others - and we do our best as a parish family to facilitate that duty. Please do your best to take advantage of these opportunities!

Many pictures and other information is being posted now. Please check our parish and the diocesan Facebook pages for more information on the Walk of Life!

Extension Cords for the Festival
6/9/16, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory
You read that right! We need your extension cords - the heavy duty outdoor ones - for the festival. Please use duct tape to form a little space on each cord that you let us borrow and write your name on it in permanent marker. We promise to return these! Please contact our Starosta, Nathan Longan (starosta@stvladimiraami.org or 734-678-8042) to arrange drop off of your extension cords, or just bring them to church this coming Sunday. Thank you in advance for your help with the festival!

Prayers for Pilgrims
3/9/16, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory
In a few hours the pilgrims on the diocesan Walk of Life will depart St. Vladimir's. Please remember the pilgrims in your prayers today and throughout the weekend as they walk the roads of Washtenaw County with banners, icons, and singing hymns of the Good News of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. May the Lord grant them all safe and spiritually profitable travels!
