St. Vladimir’s Next Steps out of Quarantine – Sign up to Attend Services!
1/6/20, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

As of Monday, June 1, the Michigan Stay at Home Order has been lifted. It is now possible for up to 100 people to gather, maintaining 6-foot distance, outside. Thus, it is very likely that the late Divine Liturgy on Sundays will be held outside starting with Sunday, June 7. More information will soon be forthcoming. The early Sunday Divine Liturgy will remain closed to the public. Divine Services during the week will have some limit on the number that can attend, but it is not yet clear exactly what that number will be. Masks will continue to be required for the Divine Services inside the church. We are working out all the details with the Parish Council now and hope to share those details by mid-week at the latest. We appreciate your patience as we work out these new guidelines and how these apply to our parish.

For now, you can still sign up for the weekday Divine Services based on the previous regime and following our Quarantine Exit Plan (this can be found at the sign up link below). If the rules change you will not lose your place, so signing up now is a good idea:

SIGN UP FOR SERVICES WEEK OF 5/31/20

Let us be diligent in making sure that St. Vladimir’s is a place that gives life – not that causes death. We hope that our zeal in following the Quarantine Exit Plan will continue to help our state in our own small way to continue to exit the quarantine and never return!

Nick Vlisides Funeral Details

Posted by Fr. Gregory

In preparation for the funeral of our brother in Christ Nick Vlisides we will have Vespers & Matins on Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m. and Divine Liturgy Monday morning at 9:00 a.m. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m.

To sign up to attend Divine Liturgy on Monday morning please use our sign up – we have reserved the inside spots for the Vlisides/Easson families:

https://tinyurl.com/pandemicservices05-31-20

There is not a sign up for the funeral, which will be held outside. Masks are required for the funeral service, as is 6-foot social distancing. We will mark places for people to stand safely. Overflow space on the lawn may be used, but masks and physical distancing must be maintained even if all marked spots are occupied. It is imperative that those who are present follow the directions of Parish Council members, who will be present to assist with the funeral and quarantine logistics. The funeral will be broadcast live on our Facebook page for those who are unable to attend, and posted later on our YouTube page.

Burial will be at the St. Vladimir Parish Cemetery.

May Nick’s memory be eternal!

One of the positive things that has come from the pandemic and quarantine is the great number of people that have volunteered to read at St. Vladimir’s at the Divine Services. Many new people have begun to read, and we want to provide the opportunity for our new readers, or those who would like to learn to read in the future, to be more educated in the structure and process of the Divine Services. Or put another way, to learn what to read and sing when (and why). We will offer classes via Zoom/Google Meet Russian and separate classes in English. To express your interest please email info@stvladimiraami.org.

Christ is Risen!

I have the sad duty to report that today our brother in Christ, Nick Vlisides, fell asleep in the Lord. We ask your prayers for the newly reposed Nicholas, his wife Julia, his family, and all who are suffering at his loss. May the merciful Lord grant him His Kingdom! More information on the funeral arrangements will be forthcoming. For now – your prayers for Nick, Julia, and their families are most important and most appreciated.

Indeed He is Risen!

“Do not fall into despair because of stumbling. I do not mean that you should not feel contrition for them, but that you should not think them incurable. For it is more expedient to be bruised than dead. There is, indeed, a Healer for the man who has stumbled, even He Who on the Cross asked that mercy be shown to His crucifiers, He Who pardoned His murders while He hung on the Cross. ‘All manner of sin,’ He said, ‘and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men,’ that is, through repentance.”
