Monday First Things: Teachings of the Holy Fathers

It is a fact, brothers and sisters, that the path of the saints in this life is one full of troubles. They either endure the pain of longing for that which is to come, like the one who said, Woe is me that I have such a long pilgrimage (Ps. 120:5, LXX) or they are distressed by their longing for the salvation of others, as Paul wrote to the Corinthians, I am afraid that whey I come to you, God may humble me and cause me to weep and mourn over many who have sinned and not repented of impurity, fornication and licentiousness which they have practiced.'

No matter what bitterness has befallen you, no matter what unpleasantness has happened to you, say, I shall endure this for Jesus Christ! and it will be easier for you. For the name of Jesus Christ is powerful. Through it all unpleasantness is calmed, and demons disappear. Your disappointments will also be calmed and you pusillanimity will be quieted.

Visit of St. Elizabeth Sisterhood from Minsk is May 11
26/4/18, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

As you may recall, our Church School raised funds for the special needs orphans at the St. Elizabeth Convent in Minsk, Belarus during Great Lent. We raised $500 for this worthy cause and we thank all who were so supportive of the Church School childrens efforts! On Friday, May 11 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Vladimirs one of the Sisters from the St. Elizabeth Convent will join us to tell us more about how the $500 our children raised will be used, to discuss the life of their convent, and to sell the handwork the sisters of the convent make to support their frankly gargantuan efforts in Belarus. Please plan to join us that evening and please invite a friend!
