PLEASE NOTE! We have removed those from the list that we believe no longer should be present there. If you requested that someone be included in this list please review it carefully to make sure we have not removed someone erroneously. If we have, please contact Fr. Children's Liturgy is June 18
21/5/16, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory
Our next Children's Liturgy is set for Saturday, June 18. This is the Soul Saturday immediately before Pentecost. We held a Children's Liturgy on this particular Saturday last year and it worked out quite nicely. We are looking forward to this year's effort being equally successful. Parents should sign up for their children to fill the various duties surrounding the Divine Liturgy at this link:

May 23 – Visit from St. Elizabeth Convent in Minsk
20/5/16, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory
We are privileged to have several representatives from the St. Elizabeth convent in Minsk, Belarus visit our parish on Monday evening, May 23. The sisters will, as always, have their beautiful icons, vestments, and other church goods for sale. These make GREAT unique gifts and support the very worthy ministries this convent undertakes in serving those in the most need in society. What ministries are those you say? Come to the presentation and find out! Vespers starts at 6:00 p.m., with the presentation at about 8:00 p.m. (but their church goods will be for sale during the evening services). BUT WAIT – if you are thinking you have seen all this before and there is no need to participate you are WRONG! :) That is because this year a special lecture about iconography will be offered in addition to information about the ministries of the convent. This is a great package that you should take advantage of: Vespers & Matins for Sts. Cyril & Methodius, an edifying lecture on iconography, and the opportunity to support those who are really doing God's work! Don't miss it!

All English Cycle of Services is May 20-21
19/5/16, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory
Our monthly cycle of all English Divine Services is this Friday and Saturday. This month's special feast day is the commemoration of the Apostle John the Theologian – unquestionably one of the most important saints in the Church, one of only four of the Apostles to have had the honor of writing one of the Gospels, and one of only three saints in the history of the Church given the appellation “theologian”. You should know more about St. John! How to find out more? Come to the services! Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. ALL ARE WELCOME!

Men in the Kitchen Thank You
18/5/16, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory
According to our parish tradition, on the Sunday of the Myrrh-Bearing Women our men take over the kitchen and our hard-working sisterhood gets a break. Yesterday our men prepared a great meal, set up, cleaned up (did the dishes too!), and completely forbid the sisterhood to help in any way – and that was great. Our sisters received a respite from their usual labors, and the men had a chance to show off their culinary acumen. And – as always – the food was great! Thank you to everyone who made sure that this wonderful tradition was upheld in our parish for another year!

Weekly Educational Offering
18/5/16, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory
We present here a short educational offering for both children and adults. Parents are asked to review the children’s portion with their children. It is very important for us to attend the Divine Services on Sundays and whenever else we are able, but in addition it is our spiritual responsibility to educate ourselves and our families in the faith. It is our hope that this mid-week offering will be an aid in this regard. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions or suggestions.

For Adults: the explanation of the Sunday gospel reading from Blessed Theophylact:

Children's Pascha Thank You!
17/5/16, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory
Thank you to all who worked so hard to make our Children's Pascha on Sunday, May 15 a great success! It was a lovely winter day despite the fact that it was May, but the kids made the best of it and fought through the freezing weather in search of eggs on the egg hunt. The older kids prepared a really wonderful play about the Lord's Resurrection (you can see that in full on our You Tube Channel if you missed it), and we topped the day off with a visit to the Zap Zone sponsored by the Detroit Express newspaper (and we thank them very much for their generosity!). Wow – what a day! Many people worked hard to make this day a success and we thank them all – may the Lord reward you in this life and the next for your support of His Holy Church!
