Too much stress is harmful. You can mistakenly lose your strength and become weak. You must surround yourself with the iron ring of the commandments. You must perform every action only after you have verified whether it is in accordance with the commandments, with Holy Scripture. And you should pronounce your words only after you have prayed and considered them.

In order to help increase the general knowledge of scripture in our parish family we present here for your edification the scripture readings for the coming week. At least one Gospel Reading and one Epistle reading are assigned for each day of the year (although during Great Lent the readings are from the Old Testament). Hearing or reading only those readings appointed for Sunday merely scratches the surface of the great spiritual wealth that the scriptures provide us. Some of the readings are easily understandable – others are less so. As Orthodox Christians we do not make private interpretation of scripture, but rather consult the fathers of the Church for their explanations to aid us in our understanding. Those wishing to have access to such explanations are asked to contact Fr. Gregory or inquire in the kiosk for further reading in this regard. Bibles may also be acquired in the kiosk.

Paschal baskets will be blessed at St. Vladimir's following the Divine Liturgy on Holy Saturday (April 23) as well as every subsequent Divine Service of Bright Week. It is most traditional for baskets to be blessed after the Divine Liturgy on Pascha itself, but we realize that this does not work for everyone's schedule, and thus we offer an early opportunity (after the Holy Saturday Divine Liturgy) and later opportunities (after every Divine Service of Bright Week). If you basket is blessed on Holy Saturday after Liturgy you agree that you will not partake of the non-Lenten foods until after the Divine Liturgy on Pascha night, for the fast does not end at midnight, but after the Divine Liturgy on the feast!

Please join us for a barbecue fundraiser for the Ann Arbor Orthodox Classical Academy on Bright Saturday! Lent will be over. Join us for a delicious non-Lenten lunch for a great cause! It is time to finish our school! So we’ll kick off a new campaign *to raise the last funds needed* at this fundraiser. DIVINE SERVICES FOR SUNDAY, APRIL 17, 2022
As of August 20, 2021 we recommend (but do not mandate) masking for indoor activities at St. Vladimir’s. Join us!

Those who confess beginning on Friday, April 15 and any time during Holy Week may partake of Divine Communion during any of the Holy Week & Bright Week Divine Liturgies if they have read their pre-Communion rule. Please plan to come to Confession early in Holy Week so that your Confession will not be rushed due to long lines of others waiting for Confession. ONCE YOU HAVE CONFESSED YOU SHOULD NOT CONFESS AGAIN UNLESS YOU FALL INTO A VERY, VERY, VERY SERIOUS SIN. In other words, if you come for a second confession during this time please have a police report to present to the priest explaining your sin. There are MANY who need to confess this week - literally hundreds. Please be merciful to your priests and only confess one time unless there is an extraordinarily serious need to confess a second time.
