Confess Early – but not Often – for Pascha
6/4/17, 12:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

Those who confess beginning on Friday, April 7 and any time during Holy Week may partake of Divine Communion during any of the Holy Week & Bright Week Divine Liturgies if they have read their pre-Communion rule. Please plan to come to Confession early in the week so that your Confession will not be rushed due to long lines of others waiting for Confession. ONCE YOU HAVE CONFESSED YOU SHOULD NOT CONFESS AGAIN UNLESS YOU FALL INTO A VERY SERIOUS SIN. There are MANY who need to confess this week - literally hundreds. Please be merciful to your priests and only confess one time unless there is a very serious need to confess a second time.

Weekly Educational Offering
5/4/17, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

We present here a short educational offering for both children and adults. Parents are asked to review the children’s portion with their children. It is very important for us to attend the Divine Services on Sundays and whenever else we are able, but in addition it is our spiritual responsibility to educate ourselves and our families in the faith. It is our hope that this mid-week offering will be an aid in this regard. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions or suggestions.

For Adults: an explanation of the Sunday's gospel reading by Blessed Theophylact:

Michigan Deanery General Unction is April 4
3/4/17, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

With the blessing of Archbishop Peter, the annual General Unction service for our Michigan Deanery will be held at St. Vladimir Church at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4. Please note that Unction is a Sacrament of the Holy Church. All are welcome to attend the service, but only Orthodox Christians may be anointed with the Holy Oil at the conclusion of the service. The Sacrament of Unction is tied very closely to both repentance and healing, and thus, although this sacrament is generally reserved for those who are very sick (to aid in their healing or their prayerful departure into the next life) the practice is to hold this service one time per year during Great Lent to strengthen all of us on our path towards spiritual healing through repentance – the path we tread each year during Great Lent. IT IS IMPORTANT that you prepare yourself by confessing before this sacrament. Children who do not participate in the sacrament of Confession (those generally less than 7 years old) are not anointed at the General Unction service unless suffering from a serious illness. Please contact Fr. Gregory for more details.
