Holy Week & Bright Week Schedule
24/3/18, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

The full service schedule for Holy Week & Bright Week at St. Vladimirs is available now at this link:

http://stvladimiraami.org/flyers/paschaschedule18.pdf

Please take time now to reserve in your personal schedule those services you attend every year. Then choose one more and add that one too! And if you are not a regular participant in the Holy Thursday evening services you really should be. On April 5 at 6:00 p.m. we will, God willing, execute one of the most beautiful and meaningful services of the year. Our choir works very hard to prepare for this service and we hope sincerely that NO ONE will miss this opportunity for us to be mystically present at the events surrounding the crucifixion of our Lord. There is nowhere else we should be on this evening but standing at the cross of the Lord even as the disciples flee in fear. Do not join them! Join us at the cross of Christ by participating in this beautiful Divine Service!

House Blessing Time Make Your Appointment Now!
22/3/18, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

Each year following the feast of the Theophany (the Lords Baptism January 19) it is a traditional and pious custom to have ones home blessed by the priest. Homes are blessed at St. Vladimirs until the beginning of Great Lent. Please visit this link to make an appointment: https://calendly.com/ogrisha/house-blessing. Please contact Fr. Gregory to schedule a house blessing if the times listed do not work for you. If you live far from St. Vladimirs please consult with those other parishioners of St. Vladimirs who live near you so that you can all have your homes blessed on the same evening. If you would like to have Fr. Moses bless your house please contact him at 530-591-0416 or priestmoses@gmail.com. Generally he can bless houses after 5:00 p.m. on weekdays, but has more availability on Saturdays and Sundays. Congratulations to all with the feast of our Lords Baptism!

Join us at St. Vladimir's for one of the longest and most edifying service of the Church Year at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21. God willing we will also broadcast this service live. Visit of the Icon of the Theotokos Softener of Evil Hearts is Thursday, March 22
20/3/18, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

The myrrh-streaming icon of the Theotokos Softener of Evil Hearts will visit St. Vladimirs on Thursday, March 22 into Friday, March 23. This was an unexpected and very welcome surprise. This was confirmed on Sunday, March 18 during the Divine Liturgy at St. Vladimirs and we were able to announce it then. Here we are able to provide details.

1. We intend to keep the parish church open throughout the night as we usually do when we are blessed to have the Kursk Icon visit us. Sign up for night chaperone duty here:

2. After the Presanctified Liturgy on March 22 in the evening we will have a meal as usual, but we hope that the gentleman traveling with the icon, Sergey Fomin, will tell us more about the icon during the meal. You can learn more about the icon below.

Russian:

3. We need to transport the icon and Sergey to Milwaukee on Friday, March 23. The icon must arrive in Milwaukee not later than 5:00 p.m. Central Daylight Time. We have a volunteer to do this, but if you would be able to help it would be good to have a backup as well. Please contact Fr. Gregory if you are interested in helping.

Monday First Things: Teachings of the Holy Fathers
19/3/18, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

The Lord did not come to make a display. He came to heal and to teach suffering men. For one who wanted to make a display the thing would have been just to appear and dazzle the beholders. But for Him Who came to heal and to teach the way was not merely to dwell here, but to put Himself at the disposal of those who needed Him, and to be manifested according as they could bear it, not vitiating the value of the Divine appearing by exceeding their capacity to receive it.
