Members – Pick Your Duty
13/1/22, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

It is understood and expected that each member of our parish would have at least one duty that they participate in IN ADDITION to attending the Divine Services. This ranges from baking prosphora, to picking sticks in the cemetery, to shoveling snow, and more! If we all do our little part we will equitably care for the parish the Lord has entrusted to us, and we will not kill off those who do these things if no one else does. It is wise for us to preserve the leadership of our parish, but it is also moral for each parish member to do their part. So please pitch in, and if you have not chosen your duty yet please contact our parish Secretary, Marina Edwards. If she doesn’t hear from you she will reach out to you soon. You can email her at info@stvladimiraami.org or see her in church. Thank you diligently following through on this program. More involvement in the parish promotes persistence in being part of the parish family – and it keeps a few people from doing everything. With God’s help we will make our metaphor of “family” even more real in our parish by working together for God’s glory in this way!

We have so many new books (in English and Russian) in the Kiosk! You stop there every time you come to St. Vladimir’s to buy candles and prosphora. Take a few minutes to pick up some spiritual reading for your edification! And don’t forget to have a look at the many new icons on offer too! Lots of things are happening at the kiosk – stop by and see!

Weekly Educational Offering - Prepare for the Coming Sunday!
12/1/22, 06:00 AM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

We present here a short educational offering for both children and adults on the upcoming Sunday's principle Gospel reading so that all can better prepare for the Divine Services. Parents are asked to review the children’s portion with their children. It is very important for us to attend the Divine Services on Sundays and whenever else we are able, but in addition it is our spiritual responsibility to educate ourselves and our families in the faith. It is our hope that this mid-week offering will be an aid in this regard. Please contact Fr. Gregory with questions or suggestions.

For Adults: from the writing of St. Ignaty Brianchaninov

For Youth: from the Antiochian Archdiocese (various age groups)

An Omicron Yolka this Sunday!
11/1/22, 06:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

Father Frost made it to St. Vladimir’s last year, at the height of the pandemic, on the very feast of the Nativity! This year he was elsewhere at that time, but he promises to join us at Fr. Gregory’s house on January 16 in the afternoon. That is VERY CONVENIENT because that is exactly when our Youth Groups meet! The vexing question of how he carries all the presents all over the world was long ago solved in the East. Simply put, we have the presents ready for him when he arrives! For that reason, we ask parents who are in a financial position to do so to provide a donation of $10 to help us cover the presents for the children that will meet with him on this day. This year we will limit the Yolka to our parish kids to try to keep the spread of the disease as limited as possible. Sign up at the 9-12 year old group here, but if you are coming just for the Yolka please arrive about 4:00 p.m.:

If you don’t know where Fr. Gregory’s house is please send a text to 734-475-4590 or an email to info@stvladimiraami.org. Do not send a message on Sunday afternoon or it may not be possible to answer! Send NOW. See you Sunday! CHRIST IS BORN!

No Services Tuesday Evening/Wednesday Morning
11/1/22, 12:00 PM
Posted by Fr. Gregory

Fr. Gregory has not gotten worse, but also has not really gotten any better. He still has no voice to speak of and still has general cold symptoms. Thus, unfortunately, we will have to cancel the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning cycle of Divine Services. Please spread the word to those whom you know, or even suspect, were planning to attend. A decision about the Wednesday morning Pre-K Catechism class will be made later today and communicated here.
